Habitually Chic®'s Logo

If you are a regular reader, then you know how much I love it when fashion and design collide and I can’t think of a more perfect marriage than Oscar de la Renta and Lee Jofa. I had the pleasure of attending the Elle Decor sponsored launch party last evening at the Oscar de la […]

July in Provence

I am swooning over the photos of Marion Cotillard in the July 2010 issue of Vogue! Mario Testino shot the stunning French star and Oscar winner in La Bastide de Marie in the South of France and both Marion and Provence look stunning! Makes me want to book a trip immediately. To see more, check […]

The Rug Company Redo

There are a lot of chic shops in New York but the recently renovated Rug Company showroom has them all beat! They have more room for their fashionable rugs and pretty pillows which now share space with lots of vintage furniture and accessories. I especially love the photographic wall hangings which I was told are […]

I was blown away by the Picasso exhibition at the Gagosian Gallery in Chelsea last summer and I’ve been hearing that the Claude Monet: Late Work exhibition is even more amazing. “The most significant gathering of Monet’s late paintings to take place in New York in more than thirty years, it will focus on the […]

I’m excited to be a part of a wonderful panel discussion this coming Friday entitled Creating a Luxury Bath Experience: The Best Resources and Tools sponsored by Waterworks and The Editor at Large. The panel which also includes Barbara Sallick of Waterworks and Matthew White of White Webb will be moderated by Samantha Nestor, the […]

I mentioned before that The Lion is the hot restaurant du jour since its chef John DeLucie formerly worked at The Waverly Inn. While neither place is going to win any culinary awards, The Lion might just win some design awards. It has an old school New York vibe and tons of fabulous vintage photos […]

Not everyone can afford a top designer but you might be able to afford something they once owned at a One Kings Lane Tastemaker Tag Sale! They have also branched out from the West Coast and next up on the sale calendar is Bunny Williams who’s sale starts tomorrow at 11:00am EDT. I could spend […]

Chic Necklaces

I came across these amazing Ichiche necklaces yesterday on Vogue.com and I’m already thinking about buying them all! They are designed by Denise Spencer, an American based in Istanbul who has weaved local traditions and materials into the designs. They are actually quite reasonably priced with the necklaces seen here ranging from $169-$329. Happy Shopping!

Since I’ve been posting about art, I figured this would be a good time to tell you about a very exciting exhibition at The Museum of Modern Art this fall. Abstract Expressionism New York will trace the development of the artist movement from it’s beginning in the 1940’s through to the 1960’s when it reached […]

Work of Art: Part Deux

I found more photos of Jeanne Greenberg Rohatyn’s fabulous townhouse on Diana Viñoly‘s website. Now you can see the chic kitchen, children’s bedrooms, and master bedroom and bath. It’s also interesting to see how the living room looks with different artwork installed. Enjoy!

Work of Art

I’m just about over “reality” tv. How many times can you watch d-list wannabe socialites who can’t sing bicker and gossip?! But since I love art, I am going to give Bravo’s new reality show Work of Art a chance. It actually features chic New Yorkers among who are Simon de Pury of Phillips de […]

Carry On Only!

As much as I like Chanel, my heart belongs to Hermès since we share an initial. Although these Crocodile suitcases that were posted on Luxist don’t have an H on them, they still have me seriously swooning! They were made in the 1930’s for Karen Blixen who wrote Out of Africa under the name Isak […]

Speaking of Chanel…

Speaking of Chanel, these are three of my favorite photos of designer taken in Deauville. They epitomize seaside glamour and the one on the boat below looks like it could have been taken today! Just goes to show that classics stay in style forever! She also kind of looks like Catherine Zeta Jones in that […]

Coco and Igor

The little straw boaters in the Resort shows of Jason Wu and Oscar de la Renta reminded me of Coco Chanel which then reminded me that there is another film coming out about the iconic designer. Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky is based on the book Coco & Igor by Chris Greenhalgh who also wrote […]

There is always something magical about attending a fashion show in person and Oscar de la Renta‘s Resort 2011 show was no exception. With all the downtown designers on the scene making waves, it’s nice to see ladylike clothes which are by no means boring or dowdy. I really loved all the sparkly details which […]

It Girl: Gaia Repossi

You know someone is the current “It Girl” when they appear in more than one magazine in the same month. Either that or they have a really good PR person. Regardless, 24 year old Gaia Repossi is definitely fashionable but also very talented. She is part of the Repossi jewelry family and has already begun […]
