Antlers Away

11 . 04 . 11

One trend that I noticed in High Point showrooms like Drexel Heritage above and in magazines are antlers.  They never really go out of style and maybe I’m just noticing them again.  Or it could be because they evoke the feeling of a cozy cabin in the woods now that we’re coming up on winter […]

Mellow Yellow

11 . 03 . 11

If there is one color you should try to incorporate into your wardrobe come spring, it’s yellow.  I saw a yellow dress on pretty much every runway for Spring 2012 but the fashion flock were wearing yellow on the street during fashion week.  It’s a collection of my favorite looks including Anna and Vivianna shot […]

After just one day in Morocco, I can see why so many designers and artists would be inspired by this beautiful country.  Most flights land in Casablanca so we took time to visit the famous Hassan II Mosque before driving to the Mazagan Beach Resort.  The patterns of the marble, tiles and metalwork could inspire […]

The House of Luck

11 . 02 . 11

One of the places that we aren’t visiting in Morocco is Tangier, the birthplace of fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent.  These photos are of one of his homes that was sold after his death, Villa Mabrouka which means House of Luck.  It’s a melange of Moroccan influences and a little chintz that refers back to […]

Outdoor Chic

11 . 01 . 11

Since I live in New York City and don’t have a terrace, looking at outdoor furniture can be depressing but visiting the Lane Venture showroom in High Point Market was actually inspiring.  I can’t wait to own a pool and patio someday so I can own some of theit cool European inspired chairs and lounges.  I also […]

Another showroom that impressed me at High Point Market was Thomasville. I didn’t realize that they also carried artwork, lighting and bedding in addition to furniture and upholstery.  Speaking of upholstery, their headboards had me at hello.  I will definitely be checking them out the next time I need one.

There are a lot of nice decorators but I think the nicest of them all has to be Bunny Williams.  She always has a smile on her face and a kind word for everyone.  I love visiting her BeeLine Home showroom in High Point since she completely redecorates it for each market.  This time, the […]

One question that everyone asks each other in High Point is “what have you liked so far?”  It’s like looking for a needle in a haystack so it takes something really special to impress everyone.  One showroom that really knocked my socks off and the other bloggers on my tour was Drexel Heritage.  I never […]

Gothic Splendor

10 . 31 . 11

I have a love/hate relationship with Halloween.  I love the fun aspects and of course the candy but I hate the slutty costumes that have become the norm.  It’s also too bad that you rarely see elegant and chic Halloween decorations.  This spread of D.L. & Co. appeared in an old House & Garden magazine […]

Light My Fire

10 . 30 . 11

It snowed all day in New York Saturday and I wished the entire time that my apartment had a working fireplace.  Would have been very cozy and romantic to spend the day reading in front of a roaring fire.  Since I don’t have one, these photos will have to suffice.  Hope you stayed dry and […]

Thanks Telegraph!

10 . 28 . 11

Most of the time, my Google Alerts don’t actually alert but today I am very happy that they did work.  Otherwise, I would not have known that The Telegraph named Habitually Chic one of The 20 Best Interiors Blogs. I’m extremely honored to be included with Apartment Therapy, Lonny, and The Selby among others. I also […]

I was running between uptown and downtown today so I’m behind on editing my photos from High Point.  Until those are ready, I leave you with this chic townhouse.  It’s owned by Delphine and Reed Krakoff and was just featured in Harper’s Bazaar. To read the entire story, click here.  You may remember it from Vogue […]

Keeping with our neutral theme of yesterday is the Oly Studio showroom in High Point.  They debuted a lot of great new products this market Thibault Lounge above with claw feet and magnetic bolsters that always stay put. The wall decoration added to the beauty of the showroom. The new Astro Shelves are a great […]

Neutral Territory

10 . 25 . 11

I love this outfit that was photographed by Facehunter during fashion week.  The color combination makes a lovely ensemble and also decorating scheme.  The pop of black adds a little punctuation to neutral shades like camel, brown, ivory, and white.   The best part of using these shades in a room is that you can […]

Naturally Chic

10 . 24 . 11

I came across this very chic home in Spain designed by Isabel Lopez Quesada.  I love the rustic wood and natural touches like the river stones above.  Definitely looks like a mix of Belgian and Swedish design than anything Spanish but it seems to work. I’m surprised we don’t see more of this talented interior […]

For the Boys

10 . 23 . 11

I realized recently that I haven’t been giving enough love to my male readers.  And yes, I do have them.  What better way to say I heart you than with a fall fashion and decor melange that was inspired by Jenna Lyons’ dining room above.  All the fashion photos are by my favorite street style […]

Turn
