Captain Overton House

One of my readers emailed me this weekend to ask if I had seen the house in Sag Harbor that Steven Gambrel just put up for sale. Sag Harbor is my favorite town in the Hamptons. The former fishing village is quaint, charming, walkable, and more down to earth than rest of the Hamptons. I actually looked at real estate listings las year and learned that most houses in the area start at $1 Million. This home at 42 Howard Street was built for Captain John Overton in 1853 and was purchased for $1.5 Million in 2013. It is now on the market for $10.5 Million from Saunders Real Estate. At first, I thought that was a bit outrageous for a house without a pool and then I realized it has a pool and a guest house. It’s also been completely renovated from top to bottom by Steven and Historical Concepts which makes is actually worth it since it’s in turn key condition ready for summer in the Hamptons. If you buy it, please invite me for a weekend.
N.B. I also just found out that beloved Chicago retailer Jayson Home will have a pop up shop at 3 Madison Street in Sag Harbor this summer. It should debut in early May but I will definitely keep you posted on the grand opening.
