Designer Visions: Richard Mishaan and Dinner at Eight
by habituallychic
11 . 12 . 09For his Designer Visions Showhouse in the Soho Mews, interior designer Richard Mishaan chose Dinner at Eight as his inspiration. The movie revolves around the preparation for a dinner party for a group wealthy and soon to be unwealthy men and women during the Great Depression. You practically need an org chart to keep up with who’s involved with whom which includes a very glamorous Jean Harlow whose bedroom in the film influenced the showhouse bedroom. There are a lot of glamorous touches of shine and gold throughout the space that harken back to the 1930’s. You can see more of the showhouse in the December 2009 issue of Town & Country magazine and at Designer Visions online. Lloyd Boston will also host a behind the scenes special about the Designer Visions showhouses on the Fine Living Network on January 26, 2010. Enjoy!

Heather, I love the dining room, actually it is all very cool!
Once again, you’ve sparked an idea for me. I’ve got quite a collection of botanicals, and I adore these black frames. Had already decided to go with an animal print carpet in my bedroom. I love the zebra. Thanks again for sharing.
Great stuff there. Favs = leopard stars, glam B&W bedroom but scared of weird doll to the left, the simple computer desk was very nice, the 6 x 4 B&W frames on the pale blue diamond wall paired with the wood and zebra was divine! Thanks for the eye full!
Great room! I also love the lr chairs and the bedroom… gorgeous.
A piece of furniture, maybe more, will be refinished in black. I am addicted!
Also… I am in love with the zebra rug. which would go well with most colors.
Thank you!
Love the choice of wallpapers and gorgeous use of color–thanks for sharing
I loved the photo spread in T&C but was disappointed in the video of it on the website. I wasn’t aware of the leopard carpeting on the stairs though – that is a great touch.
I love it all.. but that white curvy coffee table in that living room is absolutely perfect! Love it.
I love zebra print so much, but my husband doesn’t want to see it. Or any other animal print. The only zebra print item I have are my slippers, lol
I caught this in T&C too and flipped through the photos over and over. There is a lot of inspiration in here! I’m envious of the work space, the great grey wallpaper, and that bedroom. A delight.
