What I Bought Myself Recently: Paris and Spring 2023 Edition

I bought quite a few things for my April trip to Paris when the forecast was showing warmer weather but I ended up not packing any of them when it became clear that it would be rather chilly. I had the cool grey weather this year that I was expecting last year but it was fine with me. I prefer colder weather in Paris so I’m not sweating so I ended up wearing a lot of the pieces I wore for my November/December 2022 trip. But now I have my spring wardrobe completely sorted out and ready to go when the weather finally warms up next week.

I have been needing a navy blazer so I ordered this Michele Jacket with gold buttons but ordered horn buttons to replace them. I haven’t made the switch yet but the gold buttons seem a little too flashy for me. The navy is a heavier weight that will be able to be worn in place of a light jacket but the vintage blue Michele Jacket is lighter. It will be perfect with white jeans or draped over summer dresses.

I had my tailor hem the sleeves on both. I don’t like the style of long jacket sleeves you see on fashion influencers. Sleeves that are too long look like you borrowed a jacket that isn’t yours or one you need to give back. If you don’t have time to get them hemmed, at least push them up so no one can tell them are too long.

I bought this peach blush embroidered blouse and thought how perfect it would be in ivory. As luck would have it, one became available. I’ll probably wear them both with jeans and sandals when it really warms up.

I was even more excited to find a dress version of the embroidered blouse. It arrived before I left for Paris. It is maxi length which those of you who are tall will love but I need to take it to my tailor soon.

I have the white and navy versions of the blue linen shirt dress but this version has a belt. It’s the perfect dress to wear in the height of summer. I love that it has pockets and wish all dresses had them.

One of the things I bought myself in Paris were these white tweed Chanel Slingbacks. Unfortunately, you can’t buy Chanel online but you can ask your salesperson to find them if you like them too.

I just ordered this ivory Waisted Silk Blazer and matching Flared Silk Skirt for spring events. It feels like a very reasonably priced version of the Dior Bar Jacket and skirt set. I thought it would be perfect to wear with the Chanel shoes below.

I saw these shoes in Paris in December 2022 and regretted not buying them so I was happy when my personal shopper at Bergdorf Goodman found them for me. They will be making their debut shortly in NYC.

I know I’ve posted this Toteme Trench that I bought for my November/December 2022 trip to Paris but I’ve barely been able to wear it. I took it to Paris this April 2023 but I ended up wearing my heavier Max Mara double faced wool coat most of the trip.

I bought this Lace Cuff Blouse in the praline color but the ivory was sold out in my size until recently. I love an ivory blouse and jeans and this one is would also be perfect with any color trousers.

I was lucky that I ordered this Cashmere Boyfriend V-Neck Sweater and Navy Cashmere Sweater to take to Paris since it was so cold. I just noticed that they currently have a Friends and Family Sale so you can take 20% off with code FRIENDS20.

I wore these black wide-leg Italian ponte pants on the flight back from Paris with a black cashmere sweater and a pair of Chanel sneakers. They were incredibly comfortable if you need a more tailored looking pair of pants for travel that don’t wrinkle and look pulled together.

This was the other pair of Chanel shoes I bought in Paris. I have a few pairs with the black toe so I loved that these ballerinas combined my favorite nude color with a gold toe.

I ordered this funnel-neck cashmere sweater before I left for Paris but I thought it would be too heavy so I didn’t pack it for my trip. It was so chilly that I could have actually worn it on a few days but I will have it for fall now.

I never met a grey sweater I didn’t like and I love the shoulder buttons on this merino wool sweater.

I rarely wear jeans in Paris. I prefer to wear long wool trousers with sneakers when it’s cold or these charcoal grey slim crop pant in Italian stretch wool blend. I paired them with grey, taupe, and navy cashmere sweaters.

They changed the style of my favorite Zespa sneakers so I’m thinking of switching to these Saint Laurent white leather sneakers.

This Linen Striped Popover Tunic is another great top to wear with dark or white jeans.

I wore this Blue Oxford Shirt under a navy cashmere sweater when I went down to Palm Beach and took off the sweater when I landed.

These black cropped pants are another style that I like to pair with blue shirts or black sweaters for rainy spring days.

I knew I wanted to get this Celine Panier Bag with the pale blue leather trim when I was in Paris and it was the first thing I bought myself.

I’m so glad I treated myself to this Celine blue and white fabric pouch in Paris since it doesn’t look like it’s available anywhere in the US.

While I’ve used my blue Celine wallet since the fall, I haven’t been able to use the pale blue Celine bucket crossbody bag that I bought in Paris in November 2022. It will be perfect to wear as a pop of color with my trench coat as well as white dresses for summer. It’s available in a lot of other colors but this ice blue color is sold out now.

This compact mini umbrella was small enough to fit in my crossbody bag and saved me a few times it began to rain in Paris. Mine doesn’t have any logo on the strap in case that bothers you.

I always stock up on Augustinus Bader Rich Cream and Hair Oil in Paris because I love them both so much. The hair oil definitely saved my hair from frizzing in the rain. On this trip, I decided to try the serum and will report back later on what I think.

My hotel in Palm Beach had a Dyson hair dryer and straightening iron in my room so I was able to try it before buying. I think it smooths out my hair without damaging it which will be important as we go into the humid spring and summer weather.

I’m including the new book from @cakeatelieramsterdam,  A Sweet Floral Life: Romantic Arrangements for Fresh and Sugar Flowers again since I was able to look through it after it arrived and it’s the most perfect book for spring. It will inspire you to create beautiful arrangements for your house or upcoming special occasion.

Happy Spring!

XOXO,
