What I Bought for Fall and How I Plan to Wear It All

Sorry for the radio silence on the blog. It’s been a busy week. I’ve been working on my annual What I Bought for Fall post but decided to add How I Plan to Wear Everything since you all seem to prefer when I post full outfits. It’s still a bit warm in New York right now but it looks like it will finally cool down next weekend so it’s time to get prepared with proper fall outfits.

I posted about this Linen Blazer in my More Fall Transitional Outfits post but it finally arrived to me. I love the small thread of blue that runs through it and that it’s not heavy wool so I can wear it when it’s still a little warm.

I am sure you will be surprised to learn that my new favorite tee shirt and tank top both only cost $5. This short sleeve tee shirt from Target is so soft that it feels like expensive Pima cotton which is why it’s even more amazing that it’s only $5. I bought the white but it looks more off-white which is actually good for fall. I placed another order for the black tees. They can be worn alone but I layer them under my cashmere sweaters so I don’t have to wash my sweaters as often. The tank tops are really great too.

I’m not sure these Curvy ’90s classic straight jeans are right for me but that might work for some of you. They are a stiffer denim than I’m used to wearing.

This gold-plated necklace has been one of my favorite things I’ve bought for fall. It looks much more expensive than it cost and works well with everything.

I loved the look of these suede Toteme Travel Loafers for my fall trips but they are way too narrow for me. I used them for the photos but they unfortunately have to be returned.

I’ll probably wear my neutral colored Loewe Flow Padded Retro Runner Sneakers. This color is almost sold out but you can find a few more sizes here. They are incredibly comfortable and I don’t think I’ve ever had as many questions about any other fashion item. You can find more colors and styles here.

I’m so happy I bought this Celine Small Cuir Triomphe Bucket Bag last fall because it’s perfect to wear now with all my neutrals. The best part is that you can adjust the strap to wear it as a crossbody or a shoulder bag.

In the top photo are Max Mara Sunglasses I saw J.Lo wear in Paris, my new favorite pedicure polish Rouge H from Hermès, my new foundation Vital Skin Care Complexion Drops from Westman Atelier that gives an amazing dewy finish, and a copy of A Catcher in the Rye.

If you can’t find the Hermès nail polish, I also like the Nailberry polish in Le Temps de Cerise which is also cheaper.

I posted this Handmade Wool Coat in my Instagram Stories but I thought I would share it here too. It’s such great quality for a reasonable price. It’s also available in brown, dark green, and black.

This Corduroy Midi Shirt Dress is the perfect dress to wear when it’s still 80 degrees in September and October. It’s also available in a dark green color. Order your regular size. This dress is not as oversized as some of their summer styles.

I have these neutral leather point-toe mules in my cart but I’m supposed to stop buying shoes. It’s become a problem. I’m sure I’ll buy them anyway. I have no will power and they would be perfect with my fall dresses and skirts when it’s past sandal season. Update: I bought them. I need to go to shoe buyer’s anonymous now. I really love that this color can be worn with any color from neutrals to black.

Don’t forget that my friend Heidi Wynne is offering 15% off her entire website through September 30, 2022 which makes it a great time to stock up on cashmere scarves and sweaters. This is the Alexandra Wrap in the color Habitually Chic that I requested that Heidi make for me. It works nude/buff color goes with every color for fall.

I still think about this Celine Medium Triomphe Bag and wish it wasn’t so expensive because it’s the perfect fall transitional bag. I’m going to Paris again later this year and might have to splurge if the exchange rate becomes even more favorable.

I bought a plain black coat earlier this year to take to Paris. I’m not even sure I wore it once because it was so much warmer than usual. But if I hadn’t, I would buy this Handmade Wool Coat.

I went to Café Carlyle this week and realized that I really need to get some new going out clothes. I just ordered this black Organza Paneled Midi Dress. It has an organza panel at the hem and along the back zip. It’s the perfect dress to wear to cocktails, dinners, and events. Just add some sort of necklace to bring attention to your face. And the best part is that it has pockets!

I didn’t wear any black during the first two years of the pandemic because it seemed too depressing on top of an already depressing time but I’m ready to wear black for going out and on rainy days. I bought the skirt below and felt that it needed a black v-neck sweater to go with it. The one I wanted was sold out so I just ordered this cashmere relaxed V-neck sweater. I will probably wear it with the gold necklace above or something lighter.

I posted this slip skirt before and decided to check it out for myself. I can say that it’s definitely worth buying for fall in whatever color you fancy. It fits true to size and is very flattering.

I loved the black slip skirt so much that I ordered the warm boulder color too. I could still pair it with the black cashmere sweater or an ivory cableknit sweater.

I’m still trying to figure out my going out shoe. I wore a delicate black suede kitten heel sandal to Café Carlyle this week but the front straps pinched my toes and the back strap kept falling off my heel. I was debating whether I should buy these Manolo Blahnik buckled satin mules but I’m not a huge fan of rhinestones. Manolo Blahnik offers a lot of other styles so I could choose something else like these black buckled suede mules.

The reason I’m not keen on rhinestones on my shoes is because I usually carry this black jersey Chanel Double Flap Bag that has gold chain straps and hardware. It’s a better evening option than a classic leather Chanel 2.55 bag.

I was searching everywhere for a thinner black cashmere sweater and this Fancy Cashmere Crewneck Sweater is perfection. It’s the perfect weight for transitional weather. It’s also available in charcoal and camel. Order your regular size for a perfect fit or one size up for a slightly looser look.

You can wear my favorite favorite tee shirt and tank top under the cashmere sweater above too.

I’ve been trying to find a pair of pants that aren’t sweatpants to wear on my flights to and from Paris in November. These are called the Dream Pant and they don’t wrinkle which makes them perfect for travel. They come in seven different colors and the size range runs from XXS to XXXXL. They also have pockets. I really hate when designers and brands don’t put pockets in women’s clothing.

The other black pants that I love to wear with sneakers or flats are these full-length Cameron pant in four-season stretch. They are perfect and pair with anything.

I’m glad I thought ahead to buy these Loewe Ballet Runner Sneakers since many of the sizes have sold out. I love the flatter look that the Flow Runners but they are just as comfortable.

I don’t wear black in the summer so it’s time to break out my black Hermès Birkin Bag with Palladium hardware for fall and winter. I was debating taking it to Paris too. It’s hard to wear a shoulder bag with my grey winter coat so I have to wear a crossbody bag or carry a handbag. Things have also come back full force in NYC so it’s time to really get dressed again and use all your best bags.

I already own a checked coat but if I didn’t, I would buy this Houndstooth wool-blend coat. I love all the different colors in the pattern that upgrade a tonal outfit.

This charcoal grey Cashmere Classic Turtleneck just arrived this week and it’s perfect. I had an old J.Crew cashmere turtleneck that is time to be retired so I’m glad I found this one while it still has a full size run available in all three colors. I think I’ll order the black color too.

These charcoal grey Cameron slim crop pant in Italian stretch wool were my favorite cropped pants for last fall and I look forward to pulling them out again when the weather cools off.

These full-length Kate straight-leg pant in drapey flannel are unlined which I sometimes prefer for a more relaxed look and they have a matching blazer. I love a casual suit worn with sneakers too.

I wasn’t joking when I said I need to stop buying shoes because I bought these Khaite suede-trimmed leather sneakers. The Loewe Ballet Runner Sneakers weren’t stark white so I liked that these were all white. There are more sizes on sale here.

I was gifted this Ralph Lauren Polo ID Calfskin Shoulder Bag a few weeks ago and I love the idea of wearing this color with my charcoal grey clothing.

Bon week-end!

XOXO,
