Perfect Pairing: 2019 Edition
The weather has been cool enough to wear jeans for the last few days and it’s been heavenly. I had a wonderful summer but I hate sweating and look forward to autumn every year. Fall is New York’s best season and the absolute best time of the year for fashion. My favorite go to outfit is always an ivory blouse with jeans and flats. When it gets even cooler, I add a blazer or a coat with a cashmere scarf. The look can be dressed up or down and can be worn to most any event. I’ve put together some options inspired by the chic women above.
I just received these Sarah Flint Suede Lana Flats last week and I still can’t get over the quality and comfort. They shoes have padded arch support and come with rubber soles. Most New Yorkers have their leather soled shoes covered with rubber to protect them and it can cost up to $50 so this is an amazing extra. I sized up a half size in these flats but took my regular size in her other shoes and boots.
I’ve been wearing pearl earrings all my life but my favorite pair were purchased on the Ponte Vecchio in Florence. I wear them every day and always get compliments on them. Since it’s impossible to buy them, these Mizuki pearl and diamond earrings are a lovely alternative option.
Everyone always asks me about my lipstick too. It’s a combination of an Aerin lipstick with a Chanel lipgloss over top. Neither of them are still available so I’ve hoarded as many tubes as I could find on eBay. I think it’s finally time to switch to Charlotte Tilbury Superstar Lips Lipstick in Pillow Talk. It’s supposed to be the ultimate nude shade for any complexion.
This lace-trimmed Swiss-dot cotton-voile blouse is a little more summery but perfect for those warm fall days. There is also a matching lace-trimmed Swiss-dot cotton-voile midi skirt you could save for next summer.
I love the lighter shade of these high-rise skinny jeans for pairing with ivory blouses and sweaters.
While I liked my summer espadrilles and sandals, I look switching over to suede flats like these suede point-toe flats.
I commissioned jeweler Ana Mari Ortega to create a special pearl necklace for me last winter. I love it but it’s better with summer dresses. I’d like to add a longer pearl necklace like this Alighieri gold-plated pearl necklace to my wardrobe to wear over blouses and sweaters in the cooler weather.
I’m thinking of adding this Hourglass Unreal High Shine Volumizing Lip Gloss in mauve nude to my make up bag this fall too.
If you loved Lauren Santo Domingo’s top and jeans look above, this ruffled lace-trimmed linen-gauze top looks pretty darn close to hers.
These high-rise skinny jeans are another great pair for fall.
I’m a sucker for d’Orsay flats and I might have to add these brown suede point-toe flats to my autumn wardrobe.
I love this tan Celine Medium 16 bag paired with an ivory blouse and tweed blazer this fall.
If I didn’t already have a pair of pearl earrings, I’d buy myself these Meteo diamond and pearl hoop earrings.
Aerin always makes the best lipsticks and I forgot that I already own this Aerin Beauty + Johanna Ortiz Lipstick in Tayrona Nude Beach. It’s another great nude shade for fall.
If you’re looking for a more casual ivory blouse, this gathered cotton-blend voile blouse is a great option.
You can never go wrong with J Brand high-rise skinny jeans.
These brown Suede Tassel Flats are chic and 40% off with the code LASTHURRAH.
I can’t decide which Celine bag is my favorite. This Celine Large Triomphe bag in textile and natural calfskin is a top contender.
This Loren Stewart Pearl Necklace actually holds a secret. The glossy freshwater pearl pendant is actually a vial, so you can unscrew the cap and pour in your favorite essential oils.
Clé de Peau Beauté sends out packages to influencers all the time. I wish I was on their list so I could try their Refined Lip Luminizer in Old Rose.
This blouse is not ivory but it’s another great option to wear with jeans. I actually bought his HATCH X J.Crew ruffle silk popover shirt in pale bloom and now it’s 40% off with the code SUNSET. I also love the color of this layered silk crepe de chine and chiffon blouse.
I think dark jeans look more pulled together and professional so I bought these 9″ high-rise toothpick jean in classic rinse for fall. They’re also 40% off with the code SUNSET.
I absolutely love these Rupert Sanderson Aga suede point-toe flats. They would be great jeans or dresses and come in seven different colors.
This Celine Nano Luggage crossbody bag also converts to a clutch for double duty.
I love the uneven quality of Baroque pearls like these Nadia Shelbaya Peachy baroque-pearl earrings. They’d be perfect with the pink blouse.
