One of my friends asked about a wicker bag I posted earlier this summer. Unfortunately, that specific bag sold out but the brand, Sparrows Weave, has the same style available in burgundy, navy, and black embossed croc leather that are just as chic and other styles that could be worn well into autumn. I also really love the story behind the brand.

Sparrow Weave founder Kirsty Siddle was a former graphic and hospitality designer with over 20 years’ experience. This background gave her the knowledge and confidence to pursue her passion for designing elevated wicker and leather bags with elegance, style and creativity.

“My style and identity as an artist stem from my father – a graphic designer and Bowie lover. His hobbies of autodidactic history and expedition ensured my children was very interesting. Many holidays consisted of scouring historical sites during yearly visits to Italy. Memories of beautiful flora, fauna and artefactual trope l’oeil exquisite paintings, Livia’s Garden room in Rome has always been a point of reference, hence the name ‘Sparrows Weave’.
 
After the historical part of our holiday we were always rewarded with a trip to the Italian Riviera. My mother took me to shoe and bag makers where we had baskets and wooden heeled shoes handmade to order. I was fascinated by the basket bags and when we returned back to London, I would often reminisce about the holiday and add my new wicker bag to my growing collection.
 
The nostalgia I feel when I see a wicker bag has driven me to produce my own brand, crafted and designed out of love. As a long time Sydney resident, I have been inspired by resort style living for many years. My desire to produce a wicker bag line has been a very natural progression as a product of this.
 
As a detailed orientated person, this has been a journey of learning. So as to not rush the brand, I have taken my time in getting every detail correct, and enjoying the experience. Sparrows Weave’s design is classical in shape and content – not made just for one season but for many to come. “
