I love auctions because not only can you bid on something fabulous but because they often give you a look inside a very chic home. Such is the case with the upcoming Betsy Bloomingdale: A Life in Style live auction at Christie’s on April 5 and online from March 30 to April 6. Betsy Bloomingdale was a socialite, philanthropist, and hostess who was a best friend of Nancy Reagan during the White House years. The auction is filled with the contents of her Hollywood Regency style Holmby Hills villa designed by Billy Haines, as well as her jewelry and designer clothing. The house itself was quietly sold to designer Tom Ford for $40 Million but he promises not to tear down the iconic home. I wonder if he’ll be bidding on anything.
