Chic in Milan: Palazzo Parigi

I would like to think I’m a good person to speak on traveling and hotels considering that I’ve stayed in five different hotels in the last six weeks. But I was still flattered that Yahoo Travel asked me to contribute my two cents to their article How to Make Your Hotel Feel More Like Home.
One of my favorite recent hotel stays was at the five-star Palazzo Parigi Hotel and Grand Spa in Milan, Italy which is a member of The Leading Hotels of the World. With only 65 rooms and 33 suites, the hotel actually manages to look grand but also feel intimate. I’m not the only one who loves it, I actually ran into the publisher of the Wall Street Journal Magazine at breakfast in the winter garden.
The owner of the hotel is French and hired Pierre Yves Rochon to design the hotel in a subtle 1930’s style that combines the best of Milanese style with subtle French touches. It’s also one of the reasons that you can experience Afternoon Tea with Ladurée during your stay.
Palazzo Parigi is located in my favorite area of Brera and it’s close to all the best sights and shopping. If you are lucky enough to book one of the suites, you might even be able to see the Duomo. The Moroccan inspired Grand Spa was not quite finished during my stay so I look forward to booking a few treatments the next time I’m in Milan.
