All of my trips run more smoothly when I plan out my outfits in advance but it’s even more important for my trip to Italy. I’ll be arriving in Milan for fashion week which will include lots of shows and events. Then I will travel on to Venice, Rome, and Florence. The weather will fluctuate from the 50’s to the 80’s so I need to be prepared for anything. Here’s a look at some of the outfits I’ll be wearing during my two weeks away.
Traveling Outfit – I’ve already dubbed this the “planes, trains, automobiles, and boats” trip to Italy since I’m going to be moving around so much. I don’t want to pack a coat that will take up too much room so I thought this Chico’s Extravagant Faux Fur Vest would be a perfect alternative. I can wear it with Chico’s Darcy Turtleneck and jeans during the day or over a dress at night. For day, I’ll pair it with my roomy Celine Phantom Tote and New Balance 410 Sneakers. I’ve also learned that a hat is better in the rain in Europe than an umbrella and the Chico’s Amelia Fedora is perfect. Another thing that’s essential when traveling is an eye cream and I absolutely love Chanel Sublimag La Creme Yeux.
Day Fashion Show Outfit – I owe Kelly Ripa for this Burberry Brit dress since she wore it on Live with Kelly and Michael a couple of times. It’s perfect for pairing with my Marni bejeweled sandals. There is no place that’s more perfect place to wear Marni than in Milan too. I’m excited to use my new Hayward purse on this trip too. The perfect finishing touch is the Chico’s Aster Pearl Collar Necklace, Chico’s Aster Pearl Bracelet and Chico’s Aster Pearl Ring. Chanel Singuliére Nail Polish is my new fall pedicure color. I also plan to read a lot of Henry James on this trip including The Wings of the Dove.
Evening Event Outfit – My friend in Milan has already confirmed that everyone wears black so this outfit means I will fit in perfectly. I love that the leather trim on my Club Monaco Jacket perfectly matches the Chico’s Faux Leather Pencil Skirt. The jacket in no longer available but the Natly Leather Blazer is a good alternative. In order to add a little color, I will add the Chico’s Arosa Long Necklace, Odile Cuff Bracelet, and Chico’s Odile Ring. My Celine Trapeze Bag from Paris and my Manolo Blahnik Lace Up Heels and Chanel Rouge Double Intensité Lip Color will finish off the look.
Dinner with Friends Outfit – I’ve packed this ivory Club Monaco Dress (unfortunately no longer available) for every trip but I love how the Chico’s Nightshadow Necklace totally changes the look. I’ve already been told that everyone dresses up in Milan so I’ll also the Chico’s Odile Cuff Bracelet, Chico’s Odile Ring, and Chico’s Madison Leopard Print Clutch will add some glamour. I’ll finish it off with my Manolo Blahnik sandals and a spritz of my friend Carlos Huber’s Arquiste Aleksandr perfume.
Sightseeing Outfit – Needless to say, I will be doing a lot of sightseeing in Italy so I need comfortable shoes and covered up outfits for certain churches. The Chico’s Fringe Cardigan is another piece that’s perfect paired with jeans for day or a dress or skirt for night. I always like packing one blue shirt for each trip and this Club Monaco Susan Shirt is super soft option. I’m hoping it’s sunny enough to wear my Celine Sunglasses. My Hermes H-Hour Watch adds a little pop of color and Celine Phantom Tote is great for hiding my large camera. These all black New Balance 410 Sneakers are insanely comfortable and also a little more discreet than most sneakers. I also love the City Secrets Guide to Florence and Venice for off the beaten path suggestions. They also have versions for Rome, Paris, London, and New York.
Arrivederci!
