A Little Chaos

As a devout Francophile, I will see any film set in France so I’m looking forward to A Little Chaos which will be released June 26, 2015. It’s a fictionalized account of a female garden designer hired by landscape architect André le Nôtre to work on a water feature in the garden of Versailles for King Louis XIV in the 17th-century.
What’s interesting is who stars in the film. Kate Winslet plays Sabine de Barra, the gardner, while the hunky Matthias Schoenaerts plays André le Nôtre. (I had the pleasure of attending a screening of Far From the Madding Crowd with a Question and Answer session with the actor afterward and I’ll see anything he stars in until the end of time.) Actor Alan Rickman not only plays the King but also directed the film. Stanley Tucci also plays a comedic court dandy.
The Telegraph described the movie as “basically Fifty Shades of Grey, only with concentric shrub formations instead of spanking.” I’m happy to see films that aren’t Oscar contenders as long as the cinematography is beautiful and I can’t imagine anything more gorgeous than a film set in the gardens of Versailles.
