For Sale: Breakfast at Tiffany’s Townhouse
by habituallychic
10 . 24 . 14I happened to walk down East 71st Street between Lexington and Third Avenues a few days ago and noticed a new for sale sign at 169 East 71st Street. This Upper East Side brownstone is best known as the building where Holly Golightly lives in the 1961 film Breakfast at Tiffany’s. The townhouse was split into two duplex apartments but is now being sold as a 3,800 square foot, four floor, four bedroom, five bathroom, single family home for $8 million. In the scheme of New York real estate, this seems like a bargain, especially considering it also has a solarium and outdoor space. Unfortunately, it no longer features the iconic green and white striped awnings. I hope the new owners add them back.
If you have $8 million laying around and would like to be my uptown neighbor, contact Peter Ashe Real Estate.
Audrey Hepburn and George Peppard outside 169 East 71st Street in Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
The green paint looks darker than in the movie.

Broker Peter Bacanovic was photographed outside the townhouse for the book Bright Young Things. He bought the property in 2000 for $1.88 million and sold it in 2012 for $5.85 million when he decided to move to Los Angeles.
Another old photo of the facade.
The floor plan for all four floors and the basement. I wish they had shown photos of the kitchens and bathrooms but maybe they need a little work.
I think this is the living room on the 3rd floor.
The top floor master bedroom.
The first floor solarium with view to the backyard.
Bon Week-end !
