Jefferson in Paris
by habituallychic
06 . 19 . 13I was walking by the Hermès store on Madison Avenue on Saturday when a book in the window caught my eye. The first clue that this was not going to be a book you can order on Amazon.com should have been the fact that it was located in the window of Hermès. Thomas Jefferson’s Paris Walks is the ninety-fourth Arion Press publication with forty-six gorgeous images of Paris by photographer Michael Kenna to accompany the story of Jefferson’s five years in Paris by Diana Ketcham. “Written as a guidebook, the essay leads the reader along Jefferson’s actual routes” he used to visit friends and conduct business. It’s the perfect gift for the person who has everything considering the cost. A limited edition signed copy can be had for $600 or one with a signed and printed photograph from the book for $2000. I’d be fine with the $600 copy if anyone is wondering what to get me for Christmas this year.
“Paris is everywhere enlarging and beautifying.” – Thomas Jefferson, 1784

truly habitually chic…great images!
Paris is everywhere – adore the photographs, too.
Heather it sounds like an amazing book! I wish it was open to more people of taste to enjoy! Even At $600 it is a collectors item!

What a great idea! He’s only one of many that I’d like to have a book on about their time in Paris! (so I can visit their old haunts of course… so much fun to think of walking in their footsteps).
