Chic on the Street: Giorgia Tordini

I’ve been putting street style photos of Giorgia Tordini in my personal style inspiration folder and on the blog for a while without knowing her name. It was a comment on a post on The Sartorialist that led me to discover that Giorgia is Italian, a fashion stylist, a contributor to Grazia.it (where she’s often photographed by her colleague Tamu McPherson), and creative director and designer for the brands Like My Mother and  Rêve.   What I love about her is that she’s not photographed wearing free clothes from all the designers hoping she’ll get photographed during fashion week.  She definitely has her own personal style that she just described on Garance Dore today as “classic with a twist”. I describe my own style this way which makes me like her even more. She also has great hair and I have a thing about hair especially when it’s almost the same color as mine.
And she wears a lot of black. I know I’m supposed to be posting more color because it’s spring but as I’ve mentioned, we’re still definitely in winter in New York.  Preston from Keep it Chic just addressed this on her site.  It really doesn’t get warm here until Memorial Day and when it’s grey or rainy, I reach for black.  It also works because everyone is pale as a ghost until they start going away to the Hamptons for the weekend. Unless your an olive skinned Italian like Giorgia in which case you’re tan all year long.  Sigh.

Interesting how she uses the handling of her purses as a statement.

As if she’s ready to be carved, life size & on a plinth, in marble for a garden.

Classic with a twist for sure.

It’s truly a pleasure to see real people with style and class (and beauty) who aren’t celebrities and who have developed a terrific sense of style. They are confident, know who they are and they are. It’s just refreshing and I’d rather see women who dress well who aren’t famous. That inspires me most.
So thank you Heather. Wonderful post.
