The New Moon in Capricorn today is a great day to restart your new year and a perfect time for a little wardrobe refresh. Since I didn’t post my usual “what I bought” post for December and Paris, I thought I would combine some of the favorite things I bought at the end of last year with a few new pieces while showing you how to style them.

It was funny that I mentioned how much I loved the navy Cos Knit Cardigan and matching Knit Skirt earlier this week and then noticed that same day that they just released the Knit Cardigan and Knit Skirt in black. I feel like I talked about wanting them to bring in back in black this fall and now we don’t even have to wait that long which is exciting. My set arrived yesterday and it will be perfect for an upcoming event. I will wear it with the Spanx Tight-End Micro Dot Fishnet Tights I wore in Paris that are virtually indestructible and The Row Claudette Flats but these black Pointed Toe Kitten Heel Pumps are a very similar less expensive option.

You could top the outfit with the Oversized Wool Cashmere Wrap Coat.

While in Paris, I bought myself the last red Celine Teen Triomphe Bag in Shiny Calfskin at Le Bon Marché. I wished they had made red in the medium size because it is small so it might have to be a bag I use with another bag like the black Textured Leather Tote. Or on a day when I don’t need to carry anything. While I was in Paris, I also bought the black Celine Gradient Sunglasses when I was out shopping with my friend Preston of Keep it Chic who was also in town.

If you missed out on the Khaite Small Julius Panel Earrings in the fall, there are new Small Julius Smooth Earrings you might want to try. I always gold necklaces but I like the idea of mixing things up with this Platinum and Gold-plated Recycled Necklace.

It’s been so satisfying to fill in my new green Smythson Soho Agenda with 2024 events and appointments but I almost wish I had bought this chic red Smythson Soho Weekly Agenda instead.

I bought the Lyma Laser last year and definitely notice a difference when I use the infra-red skincare device. My goal this year is to use it daily so I can see even better results.

January is when everyone wants to dress comfortably after the busy holiday season so I also have a few great options that can be worn while working at home, traveling, or just running errands.

The base for this outfit is my favorite black Italian Ponte Pants that I wear while traveling. They are as comfortable as lounge pants but that can also be worn to work or dinner. Everyone who has bought them has loved them. They also now come in Skinny Trouser and Demi-Bootcut styles but I still prefer the original.

The Chunky Paneled Wool Sweater looks like a sweater you’d find at Khaite or The Row but for a lot less. I love my wool checked Weekend Max Mara coat but if I didn’t have that one, I would definitely want this Belted Houndstooth Wool-blend Trench Coat.

The Row Owen Sneakers in taupe were one of the best things I bought last year and were so comfortable for walking all day in Paris. I also wore them on the plane and on a recent train trip to Boston.

I look forward to adding the red Celine Teen Triomphe Bag in Shiny Calfskin to a neutral outfit for a pop of color. I would also wear a red Cashmere Hat with this outfit with the taupe Textured Leather Weekend Bag.

As a little pre-Christmas present to myself, I also picked up these Celine Butterfly Sunglasses because I didn’t have a tortoise pair of sunglasses. The Small Julius Smooth Earrings would look great with this outfit too.

I was thinking that we need a good blush this time of year to give our pale face a little color. Chanel Beauté no longer makes my exact blush color but I just found this Chanel Healthy Winter Glow Blush which is perfectly named and timed.

The new year means it’s time to dust off that pile of self-help books like Atomic Habits: An Easy & Proven Way to Build Good Habits & Break Bad Ones.

I wore a pair of navy trousers (sorry they are sold out so I can’t link them) with charcoal grey sweater on the train to Boston last week. I wish I had seen these Italian Flannel Shirts and matching Italian Flannel Wide Leg Pants in navy and grey. They look like a very chic alternative to matching sweatsuits and loungewear for travel. I love how they styled them with turtlenecks underneath as well.

I had to take my new Santoni Loafers that were seen on Elle Fanning to my shoe guy to be stretched a second time so I need to go back to pick them up. Since they are mostly sold out, I’d suggest these brown Tasseled Leather Loafers as an alternative. I’d also pack these navy Mixed Leather Retro Runner Sneakers for walking.

The Celine Teen Triomphe Bag in Shiny Calfskin would be perfect with both of these outfits, as would the Rue de Verneuil Grey Wool Large Traversée Bag that I also used on the flight back from Paris and on the train to and from Boston.

For more color and glow this winter, I highly suggest Westman Atelier Clean Glow Trio Petite Sticks that I also packed for Paris and Boston. I keep hearing conflicting stories of whether bluetooth headphones are bad for your brain but decided to err on the side of caution and go back to old-school tethered Apple EarPods.

Since I went to see the Fashioned by Sargent exhibition at the MFA that ends this weekend on January 15, 2024, I packed the book The Grand Affair: John Singer Sargent in His World that I started reading last year.

Even I’m starting to think I need to add a bit more color to my wardrobe this winter. Since I wear so much grey like the Italian Stretch Flannel Trousers, I think this purple Dolman Sleeve Sweater and dark purple Chunky Pure Cashmere Sweater would be perfect complements. They would also look great with the long black Knit Skirt and Deconstructed Wool Blend Midi Pencil Skirt.

You could pair any of them with the Pointed Toe Kitten Heel Pumps and Spanx Tight-End Micro Dot Fishnet Tights or these chic Croc-effect Leather Knee High Boots. They would all look great topped by the grey Double Faced Wool Coat.

I think the red Celine Teen Triomphe Bag in Shiny Calfskin would look great with the purple sweaters and Large Leather Tote Bag.

Finish things off with the Small Julius Smooth Earrings and The Power of Self-Discipline: 5-Minute Exercises to Build Self-Control, Good Habits, and Keep Going When You Want to Give Up to get back on track this new year.

This outfit would be perfect for those who live in warmer climates or those who are heading to them. You could even wear this on a bright bluebird day in the city.

The seaglass colored Oversized Wool Coat is so pretty you will forget you have SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder). The navy and grey Italian Flannel Wide Leg Pants are also available in Soft Taupe which is a great base for the blizzard blue Silk Tank and glass blue Cotton Silk Sweater or blue Waisted Knitted Cardigan. I also love the glass blue Cotton Silk Cardigan.

For a dressy option, I’d suggest the beige Knotted Leather Point-toe Flats or the Toteme Sport Leather-Trimmed Suede and Twill Sneakers for your little mental health walks.

I love these pale blue shades with the red Celine Teen Triomphe Bag in Shiny Calfskin but the camel large Weekender Textured-leather Tote would be perfect for travel day.

In December, I bought the Dyson Limited Edition Airwrap Multi Styler in Ceramic Pop but have yet to try it out. I’m going to try it this weekend when I finally have time to practice.

I already placed my pre-order for Trust Your Timing: How to Use Your Astrological Birth Chart to Navigate Your Love Life and Find Your Authentic Self from my favorite new astrologer, Alice Bell.

One thing I noticed while watching the Golden Globes Sunday night and seeing some other celebrities at the Governors Awards on Tuesday night was the shorter chic hairstyles on quite a few of them. I had already decided to go a little shorter this week so it made me feel confident in my decision. I think it’s always more flattering when my hair sits just below my shoulders but it grows so fast that I don’t have the time to keep it that length with monthly trims.

After my cut yesterday, I saw my colorist today for highlights and we discussed the styles here. We agreed that the best ones are a bit more blunt. I also think mine looks better when it’s a little longer in the front. Otherwise, it ends up looking like Penelope Cruz’s style. I also think they thinned out Jennifer Aniston’s hair too much so the ends look too wispy.

You can also see the progression from when Emma Stone from her short blonde bob to her current red blunt lob. I watched her hair stylist Mara Roszak do her hair for the Golden Globes and just ordered a few of her Roz Hair products since it looked so smooth. I will report back after the arrive and I try them on myself.

Hope this gives you a few ideas on how to refresh your winter wardrobe for January.

Bon Weekend!

XOXO,

HC
