Missoni for Target
by habituallychic
09 . 08 . 11If the empty shelves at the Missoni for Target Private Launch Event last night were any indication of the positive reaction to the new collection, I would suggest camping out in front of your local store now for the September 13th launch. If you are lucky enough to be in New York now, you’ll be able to shop at the Missoni for Target Pop Up Shop at 1095 Sixth Avenue at 42nd Street. They will open to the public tonight for Fashion’s Night Out at 6:00pm until 11:00pm. They will be open September 9th and 10th from 9:00am – 8:00pm on while supplies last which probably won’t be long!
The shelves did not look like this when I arrived 45 minutes after the private party began. They were picked so clean I thought I might cry.
Luckily, I waited around until some people put back a few things they didn’t want. I scored a signature zig zag cardigan that I saw at the preview as well as a notebook and make up bag.
The advertising features Margherita Missoni who was at the party last night with her mother and grandmother who founded the company.
The design team from Target worked very closely with the Missoni family and traveled to Italy to look through the archives for inspiration.
I’m sad that I missed out on all the pillows and home goods last night. I hope I can order some things online on September 13th.
The collection includes everything but the kitchen sink. I saw bathing suits, bicycles, ottomans, paper products and a chic laptop case among hundreds of other items at the preview a few months ago.
Margherita was shot with some of the chic products for Vogue recently.
They shot the pieces in her apartment.
I missed out on the vases too.
If you can find one of the bicycles, I highly suggested you buy one. They were one of my favorite pieces from the Missoni for Target collection. You can use it to make a quick getaway from the store after you go shopping!

This is really so exciting I can hardly believe it! The selection is truly amazing. This is going to be a home run for Target for sure!

OMG! I’m about to cry! We don’t have Targets here in Brasil, I guess that’s why I must plan a trip, maybe to US, as soon as possible.
Beautiful pics.

Really looking forward to this! Going straight after work on Tuesday.
HI,
Love your blog! What blogs would you suggest I check in order to follow NY Fashion Week?
Thanks!
i figured it would be like that – i’m not gonna even go to the NYC pop up store – i’m just gonna go on-line and buy it all – i think it’s my safest bet! —- today my SIL called me – they started putting some of the Missoni stuff out – i ran to my car, but as soon as i turned it on, i got a call from my SIL saying the girl got in MAJOR trouble – b/c she wasn’t suppose to put the stuff out yet! — NOW if i only had an inside Target person!

It looks fab and the bad thing is, you can’t get it in the UK !!!
OMG you’ve got me so nervous!
I’m loving the skirt that MM is wearing in that picture from Vogue.
I’m dreading the eBay mark ups (I’m in Australia)
Never liked the Missoni line. I mean, how many geographical knits can one person wear?
I have to say that I’ve never been a Missoni fan. I mean, how many geometric prints can a person wear?
gosh i cannot wait!! love that sweater.
I’m out of the country and will be returning on the 13th at night! I’m sooo scared I will miss getting the stuff!! I may just change my flight…
LOL!
Have a great weekend!

I love this collection so much that I’m willing to cross borders to get it!! That said, I’m taking Tuesday off and driving to the closest Target location in Buffalo. I guess I’d better plan to get there early 🙂
That bike is killer. I saw some of the china in a design mag recently — looks promising. I’d love to know what you thought of the quality of the clothes–I’ve had mixed results in that area with these Target collaborations.
p.s. noticed your premier sponsor today — just the name India Hicks whisks me away to Harbour Island. Off to check out her site.
