07 . 29 . 11A few readers asked me about my bulletin board so I thought I would take a minute to explain. It is actually an old one that came from my childhood bedroom. I covered it in batting and then attached fabric with a staple gun. When a board has ribbons, it’s usually referred to as an “invitation board” since you would tuck invitations under the ribbon. I crossed strips of ribbon and stapled them behind before using small upholstery tacks to keep them down on the front. I don’t like making holes in my postcards and pictures so I prefer this method. The best part is that if you redecorate, you can just change out the fabric or switch out the ribbon for another color. Pottery Barn makes two sizes of bulletin boards that look great as they are or you could also add the ribbon and tacks. Good luck!

I have a large one that needs to be cut down and my pile of inspirations have a few duplicates,of your pics. The outdoor greenhouse, the David pic and a little slice of an agate stone…….love the board and even bettah that it has been of service for many years!

it is great how the blog seems to be changing more towards the personal touch, your own designs, your own spaces and this small but good example of DIY. that’s the best part of chic, not just looking around on the web which anyone can do if they have enough free time and reposting photos from other places!
I found one just like yours with the ribbons already made at Target! Just love that place, these are so wonderful I finally will be getting one!! I have the Sant Ambroeus card as well..such a beauty!!
These boards look great framed in antique frames, too.
I also have to say I enjoy the personal blogs !! seeing the images that you keep and like to look at is lovely – each of us has such potencial for richness in our life… it’s about finding our own personal touch !
BTW…I have the same card with mick Jagger’s pic. love it !
Thanks for all you give !
gives alot of pleasure and inspiration !

From the looks of it, you are off to a good start! Love your art, frames, chair. My favorite look is a room that appears to have come together over a period of time.
