The Rug Company Redo
by habituallychic
06 . 15 . 10There are a lot of chic shops in New York but the recently renovated Rug Company showroom has them all beat! They have more room for their fashionable rugs and pretty pillows which now share space with lots of vintage furniture and accessories. I especially love the photographic wall hangings which I was told are a just placeholders until the same photos are made into tapestries. I don’t even want to think about how long those will take to weave! Definitely stop in and check out The Rug Company the next time you are in Soho! Just don’t forget to look at the rugs as well as the decor!

oh my, I cannot wait to visit. The tufted olive ottoman is such a beautiful piece. The coral desk with the turquoise handles is beyond creative.

OMG, Heather, I am a HUGE Rug Company fan — own their Viv Westwood pillow and Matthew Williamson “Vishnu” wall hanging. This showroom has my heart racing…I think they need to redo their LA showroom to match!
Excellent, excellent post. I will be looking at those photos over and over again.
xx
Photographic Tapetries!!??!! Oh my golly. That is going to be even more gorgeous…but definitely a huge distraction from the equally gorgeous rugs. I love the bright red furniture accents too.
Too bad I live in Stockholm!
I am in love with the tufted footstool, I just ordered a round non tufted one from Ben Whistler, ach, I’m in two minds now.
Those emerald green chairs in the first few pics are ‘Fantastic’ – Love it!!!

Love, love, love TRC. They are my go-to for any client that can afford them. Tres chic.
Oh wow! I am in LOVE with every single photo!! I must go have a look!
Can’t. wait. to. visit!
I must find the source of the photo background, the one of the woman in a gown. It is such an iconic portrait and I know I have seen it before. Can anyone enlighten me?
This is so amazing! I can’t wait to visit the new showroom next time I’m in the city. It really tells us a story about the spaces where these rugs live. I love it!
does anyone know where I can find more information about the architect or lighting designer who redesigned their showroom?
Please, anyone know where buy the these wallpapers?
