Vive la France!

07 . 14 . 09

I couldn’t think of a better day to announce that Stefan Hurray of Architect Design and I are going to Paris than Bastille Day! Neither of us have ever visited Versailles which prompted the initial discussion. Then I happened to mention to Charlotte Moss that we were thinking of going and she insisted that we must go since it would inspire us for years and who we were to quibble with the doyenne of design. Dates were bandied about and flights were booked and this September we will be enjoying the city of lights just like Audrey and Fred! I don’t think any singing and dancing will be involved but you never know! We’re keeping the exact details of our trip mum for a little while longer but I can tell you that many exciting people and places will be involved with our little sojourn. Until then, enjoy Bastille Day and Vive la France!

Bon Voyage mon puce! Have a wonderful trip!!! If you’re in Paris at the end of the month, let me know! I’ll be in Paris from around 24 Sept – 5 Oct meeting clients for the worlds best traveling flea market and would be delighted to meet up and show you a bit of the Paris Antiques Scene!

If you’ve not yet booked your tickets, try to arrange your trip so you’re in town until atleast the 25 Sept because this is when La Foire Nationale à la Brocante et Aux Jambons is held and this is one antique market you dont want to miss!

If we’re not able to coincide dates, remind me and I’ll email you a secret diva resource guide to plan your shopping!

    All the best,
    Toma

I’m so glad you chose a picture of my FAVORITE movie for this post – fred astaire is my style icon. I even have a framed photograph of him in my hallway where I dress!

I love it!! Congratulations!! I’ve been asking my husband to move there forever…He just won’t budge. Who knows..You enjoy yourself! I’m sure this will be a time you will never forget. By the way, I love Audrey. I cried for a week when she died.

Be sure to check out “Marie Antoinette” before you go the Versailles…just to get the feeling of the place…when we were there it was filled w/Jeff Koons art.

    Oh, have a wonderful time!
As cheesy as they can be, I found that the audio tour (you know, the one that comes with the headsets from the 80’s?) at Versailles actually provided quite a bit of very interesting information on many different aspects of the place. Much more than the guided tour. Be sure to get there nice and early as many of the secondary buildings (like Marie Antoinette’s) close, I think, around 4:00.

My husband and I went for our 40th wedding anniversary two years ago. What a fabulous city!! You absolutely must go to Versailles. The gardens alone take your breath away. Amazing to think people actually lived that way!

Congratulations! If I know Stefan he’ll assume the role of Audrey and make you play Fred! ; )

oh, and I just ordered the book (my life in France), cannot stand it, everybody’s talking about it, so I got to read it too 🙂 and I like to read a book before seeing the movie.
using my visiting the States for the summer, it’s my #6 book purchase, don’t know how I’m going to haul them all (+some my new antique Limoges porcelain) back to Hong Kong.
you better travel with an empty suitcase to France, Heather 🙂
