Eyeing, Buying, and Trying: March 2024

I’ve been trying to be more considerate about what I buy lately but I did buy a few things with an eye to the transitional weather and spring events and travel.

I don’t wear black except for evening and have been wearing a J.Crew x Marie Marot navy pair of trousers all winter. Since they are long sold out, I’ve been trying to find another pair of navy pants for you. I also wanted a navy trouser that wasn’t as wide as the other pair. I had my tailor narrow the legs and they are still wide. So, I just ordered these navy Lightweight Wool Blend Trousers. I think these will be a good work pant for those of you who work in corporate offices. The only drawback is that they are on back order until later in March.

My navy cashmere sweater felt a little too big so I ordered a new Cashmere Crewneck for this spring.

I loved the linen Ann Mashburn Long-Sleeved Gianna Safari Dress so much last summer that I bought two more when it went on sale. It’s cut on the bias which is very flattering and can be worn belted or loose. So when I saw they came out with a navy wool searsucker version for spring, I walked over to the store and bought it right away. It’s a lot more than I usually spend for a shirtdress but I know the cost per wear will make it worth the price. Also, I prefer a shirtdress with sleeves since it can be worn for three seasons. I don’t like to add a cardigan or other piece to a sleeveless dress since it always ruins the look.

It’s still not warm enough to wear my new Gabriela Hearst Harlow T-bar leather Flats but we’re getting closer.

Since I know you prefer to see outfits, I thought I would show you exactly how I would wear the navy Cashmere Crewneck and navy Lightweight Wool Blend Trousers. While it’s still chilly, I’ll wear them with white Saint Laurent Grained Leather Sneakers for walks in Central Park and later with the Gabriela Hearst Harlow T-bar leather Flats.

I’ll wear my grey ‘S Max Mara Double Faced Wool Coat but this grey Double Faced Wool Coat is a great less expensive option. I have it in navy from last year and the quality is great. It is long though but I kept it long so it would work with my long knit skirts. There is a petite option though.

My red Celine Teen Triomphe Bag is chic but small so if I need a bigger bag, I’ll carry my new red vintage Balmain Pierre bag.

When it’s a little chilly but not cold, I often tuck a Hermès silk scarf into my coat. I’ve had good luck buying them from Etsy and vintage stores in Paris.

I’ll also wear my nude Celine Sunglasses and new Mariner Necklace. There are larger Mariner options in gold and silver, as well as bracelets and earrings.

Details on the perfume below.

I love the Fancy Cashmere from Naadam so I decided to order the Fancy Cashmere Cardigan that matches my Fancy Cashmere Crewneck Sweater to wear together or throw it over my shoulders.

I ordered the slate grey Tailored Linen Blend Midi Skirt as a transitional spring piece that can be paired with any top. There’s a matching Linen Blend Vest that would look very chic paired with the skirt when the weather really warms up.

I swapped out my black iPhone case for my aqua blue woven case and just ordered the bright green version. I love the vender who makes them and asked if she’d be willing to make them in burgundy and a deeper green like we saw on the fall runways and she said yes. She just ordered swatches and I’ll let you know when they are for sale. I can’t believe how great the quality is for the price which is why I own multiple colors and change them to match my outfits or my mood. She also makes iPad covers and many other products.

Unfortunately, my new Cos x Linda Farrow Flight Sunglasses already sold out but save the bookmark if you like them in case they get restocked. But there are many other styles available.

I love the thin new Mariner Necklace but I think the matching bracelet is a little too small so I think I will return it and get the elongated Mariner bracelet instead.

A store uptown carries the Régime des Fleurs line of perfumes and I loved the scents so I decided to try the discovery set. I’m leaning toward Là Bas scent which I do like but it was the description that really sold me.

“Imagine if The 6th Arrondissement’s Saint Sulpice church were transported to Upper East Side.” That’s how Christopher and I began musing. The question was sparked by his own personal story; we were both living in New York at the time, but his heart longed for his home in Paris. La Bas is a feeling: the haunting sense that wherever you are, you wish to be somewhere else. Not here; over there.

I also love Al-Dukhan which is, “It’s a homage to Moroccan painter Hassan El Glaoui– his depictions of cavalry, their elegance and smoking guns”.

Another popular one is Rock River Melody, which is “like stepping into a humid, herbaceous greenhouse, this fragrance is a muddy ride on horseback in a sparkling green Fontainebleau forest”.

If they weren’t so expensive, I’d buy one of each.

Ever since I started get Clear and Brilliant laser treatments multiple times a year, I never get any sun on my face. That means I’m also looking for something to add a little color. I love the Chanel Les Beiges Sheer Healthy Glow Highlighting Fluid for adding a sunkissed look to my pale visage. The pearly glow is currently sold out but I also really love the Rosy Light Drops as a highlighter.

I’m also still loving the Longwear Liquid Eyeshadow in rayon and desert wind. I can’t believe how it stays on the entire day and still looks perfect. I bought one back up of each but I wonder if I should buy more in case it’s only a limited edition product.

This Portable Electronic Foot File is the best thing I’ve ever bought online. I have been getting Russian Manicures since last August but they are very expensive so I feel like I can’t justify also getting a Russian Pedicure too. This product gave me the baby soft skin exactly like they do at the salon but now I can do it myself whenever my feet feet a little dry. It says you can use it on wet feet too but the best way to use it is dry like a Russian Pedicure. I use Weleda Skin Food after and have the smoothest feet of my life.

I was very sad to have missed Gil Schafer’s book party for Home at Last: Enduring Design for the New American House this week at KRB but I’m very happy to have his amazing book. If you haven’t picked up a copy yet, you are missing out on peeking into some of the chicest homes in America.

I feel like we’ve made it through the worst of winter and only have one more week until the time change. Spring is just around the corner!

Happy March!

XOXO,
