Eyeing, Buying, and Trying: May 2023

If yesterday’s airport travel outfit doesn’t work for you, I have a few other options for you today. I’m currently trying to get my ducks in a row for my next trip the Hamptons and my July trip to London so these are some of the things I’ve been eyeing, buying, and trying for May 2023.

I loved the Michele Jacket with gold buttons and  vintage blue Michele Jacket that I recently added to my wardrobe that I also bought this ivory Michaela Jacket. I think it would work well with jeans or black trousers and will be good for London if the weather is a little chilly.

I haven’t shopped much at Zara lately but took a chance on this ivory and black Striped Knit Sweater. It will be perfect to wear with black pants or over the shoulders of the ivory blazer.

I posted these black wide leg ponte pants before but I’m posting them again because I wore them on the plane back from Paris and they were incredibly comfortable. I also felt very pulled together in them so if you are looking for a comfortable travel pant for this summer, these are them.

I’m still trying to figure out a summer plane shoe but I am going to try these all black Birkenstock Arizona sandals. I love that you can slip them on and off. You can easily slip them on with your socks to use the plane restroom too. I usually wear a 36 in the rubber EVA Birkenstocks but a 37 in regular styles but these ran large. I have to return them and just ordered a 36 so make sure you check the sizing before ordering.

I usually wear navy in the summer and not black so I wanted a navy travel outfit option as well. I just ordered this navy cotton-blend sweater but it’s also available in 12 other colors.

I don’t even know how I found these navy wide leg pants but they are a similar version of the black wide leg ponte pants above except that they pull-on. They fit true to size and have pockets which is nice and come in two lengths. NB: Apparently the navy pants already sold out. They are called the Keller pant if you want to check back to see if they restock them. Sorry. You could try these navy high rise cloud pants instead.

I posted these City Sneakers before and Taylor Swift just wore them for a night out in New York so I decided to finally give them a try. My size 37 was sold out so I took a chance on a 37.5 and they were perfect. They have a thin rubber sole and are very lightweight so they are perfect for summer travel. They are incredibly comfortable too. You can find a few more sizes here.

I took a chance on this ‘Sconset SeaWell Sweater from the new to me brand Long Wharf Supply Company. I’m very happy with my decision. It will be perfect for the Hamptons and a later trip I have planned to Nantucket.

I don’t wear jeans very much anymore. I prefer a cropped or wide leg trouser that can be worn with different shoes. They also look more dressed up when paired with sneakers.

I took a chance on these navy straight-leg stretch linen blend pants on the left. While I love the fabric, I don’t think a lined pant is what I’m looking for this summer. But I think they would be perfect for those of you who work in an office. I already had the navy four season stretch pants on the right and I just need to take them to the tailor to be hemmed.

I ordered these Cayumas for AERIN Velvet Slippers as soon as Aerin Lauder posted them on Instagram and I’m glad I did since they are sold out now. I’m posting them because so often things come back into stock so they might be available again. I always forget that Italian shoes run small and while the ones I ordered in a 37 fit, I might have preferred a 38.

Sizing is all over the place lately. I had ordered the green Adidas Stan Smith Sneakers before in my usual size 7 but they were too big. I just ordered a pair of Stan Smith’s in navy in 6.5 for my summer trips.

I have a bunch of Rue de Verneuil bags for summer but if I didn’t, I would be adding this blue and black Parcours Palais Royal Tote to my summer wardrobe.

I’ve also been trying to find more summer dresses. I just happened to come across these Pintuck Bib Midi Shirtdress in white and black and they are a great quality for the price. They fit true to size but slim so if you want them loose, I would order one size up.

I wear my Gabriela Hearst suede wrap sandals in various colors all summer but if I didn’t, I would order these brown suede wrap sandals.

I use my Celine Basket Bag as a tote all summer but this basket bag and this basket bag are other chic options.

This Striped Linen Cotton Maxi Shirtdress is great for those of you who are tall but it’s another item I need to take to my tailor. The great thing is that it has pockets and narrow sleeves which I prefer.

I love pairing my yellow Hermès Oran Sandals or another yellow pair from Gabriela Hearst with my blue dresses. These yellow Wrap Sandals are another great option.

This Silk Shirt Dress is an example of something that doesn’t work off the rack but with a few tweaks from a tailor can be a great dress. It’s extremely long and has slits up the side which are easy to fix but it also has wide sleeves that need to be narrowed. But I think the raw silk fabric makes it worth the effort. It runs large so size down one size.

I already placed my pre-order for Carolyn Bessette Kennedy: A Life in Fashion which will be released in November. I’m hoping I can get an early press copy from Abrams in October.

It was just announced that Sofia Coppola has a new book coming out on 1 September 2023, Sofia Coppola Archive from Mack Books. It will cover all of her films with personal memorabilia and stories.

Archive is the first book by Sofia Coppola, covering the entirety of her singular and influential career in film. Constructed from Coppola’s personal collection of photographs and ephemera, including early development work, reference collages, influences, annotated scripts, and unseen behind-the-scenes.

You can pre-order signed and unsigned copies on the Mack website here. I already placed my order for a signed copy and hope there will be book events in NYC this fall.

I’m hoping this Clarins V-Facial Instant Depuffing Face Mask will be good for the travel days. It just arrived so I will report back.

I love the Hermès Rose Coquille Nail Polish but I’m giving the Chanel Nail Line a try when I go to get a manicure and pedicure tomorrow. I bought the La Base Camelia base coat which some people wear alone, Ballerina and Incendiaire polishes, and the Le Gel Coat longwear top coat. One of the celebrity manicurists I follow on Instagram loves it so I’ll report back on this as well.

Happy Travel Season!

XOXO,
