Airport Arrivals
by habituallychic
05 . 21 . 23The 76th Annual Cannes Film Festival is taking place in France right now and the airport arrival outfits in Nice are better than the fancy red carpet looks. Some of my favorites this week include Brie Larson in a chic Celine jacket, Uma Thurman in a tan suit, and Natalie Portman and French actress Laura Smet in a blazer and blue jeans. Elle Fanning in The Row isn’t wearing a blazer but it’s easy to picture her adding one to her ensemble. I also included Swedish actress Noomi Rapace arriving last year since she fit the theme.
Their looks are easy to replicate and could be worn for your own summer flight or for a weekend getaway so I put together some options to get you started.
If you have the Mango jacket from this post last September (now sold out), you will be ahead of the game. But the first checked single-breasted blazer (top row) looks very similar to Brie’s Celine blazer that she was first seen wearing in 2021. I actually own the second herringbone blazer (bottom row) and it is a great soft fabric for travel. The third wool plaid blazer (middle top row) is a great option that will take you into fall. The fourth wool plaid option (bottom row) is a little darker but also on sale right now. The last linen blend blazer (top row) has matching shorts so you could create multiple outfits with it for summer.
The easy part about this outfit is that you can just throw the blazer over a plain white tee which I think looks a bit more pulled together than a concert or logo printed tee. These are the ones that I like starting with the top row, vintage slub cotton crewneck tee, organic cotton box-cut tee, vintage cotton crewneck tee. Bottom row, this white relaxed tee is the new version of my favorite white tee from last year. The other white tee on the bottom row is currently an additional 20% off.
I’m not sure if ivory jeans or trousers make the best travel pants for non-celebrities. I’m pretty sure they must change after their long haul flights but I think they can be great for shorter trips and every day wear. The first pair of ecru demi-boot crop jeans would at least be machine washable. The second essential pant in ivory drapey twill would be a great trouser for day to night. The natural heritage chino pant is a great casual weekend pant.
Obviously, blue jeans make a great combination with a neutral jacket two and these dark ’90s Pinch Waist high-rise straight-leg organic jeans and light ’90s Pinch Waist high-rise straight-leg organic jeans would make great options.
After I started this post, I realized that Favorite Daughter has an ivory Favorite Pant that would work perfectly too.
As for shoes, Brie is wearing Chanel slingbacks, Elle is wearing The Row flip flops, Uma is in sold out sandals from Gabriela Hearst, Natalie in Stan Smith sneakers, and Noomi in Celine loafers.
So I took some liberties to choose some other options. From left to right top row: I like these Birkenstock Arizona big-buckle sandals which are great for long trips when your feet swell. Fisherman sandals like these brown leather sandals are having a moment this summer.
If you want the look of the The Row flip flops but at a more reasonable price, the padded flip flop sandals in the middle come in five different colors.
Bottom row: these ivory horsebit leather loafers would be a great lighter option for summer travel. The leather-trimmed suede, mesh and canvas sneakers are the perfect lightweight option for when you don’t have room to pack a big pair of sneakers.
You definitely need a great pair of sunglasses whether you are a celebrity or not. Top row: these Celine Triomphe oval-frame acetate sunglasses are the exact pair that Brie Larson is wearing. The oversized round-frame tortoiseshell acetate sunglasses are a little bigger option.
You can pretend you are a celebrity with the black oversized square sunglasses in the middle.
I own these nude round-frame acetate sunglasses and I still love them but I also just bought these aviator-style gold-tone sunglasses when I was in Paris last year and they’d both work with this travel outfit.
You definitely need a roomy tote for summer travel. I love the taupe color of the textured-leather tote on the top left. The black leather tote would work for the plane and sightseeing.
I own the beige Rue de Verneuil Traversee Linen Tote and will be using it for my trip to the Hamptons this summer. It has snaps so you can pull the sides in to make it smaller too.
The East West large leather tote on the bottom comes in four other colors but I love the beige color that would work with any outfit. I use the burgundy leather version of the leather-trimmed raffia tote for every trip to Paris because it’s so roomy.
Brie and Elle share the same stylist so maybe she got them both a deal on their Away luggage. Elle has the navy Bigger Carry-On Flex and the Everywhere Bag while Brie has the limited edition sky blue Bigger Carry-On Flex. The middle grey Rimowa Essential Cabin 22-Inch Wheeled Carry-On is popular with celebrities too. Paravel is a popular eco-friendly luggage brand and this navy Aviator Set would make a great graduation gift for summer travel.
The bottom row beige Carry On Traveler is a very nice reasonably priced option. The cream Pocket 21-Inch Wheeled Carry-On harkens back to old-school leather suitcases.
I know this travel outfit won’t work for everyone so I’ll try to put some more options together for summer travel.
Bon voyage!
XOXO,
