While most of the country has been experiencing a heat wave, things have been very up and down in New York and even in Sag Harbor, where I spent last week. I feel like I have to have three seasons of clothing on hand at any given time. But at least there are some good things to watch inside in the air conditioning now when you are trying to escaping the heat.

One of the reasons I love Sag Harbor is because it still retains the character of the original whaling village. It doesn’t have luxury brands but I do appreciate visiting the other towns in the Hamptons to check them out. The new Chanel boutique at 26 Newtown Lane in East Hampton opens tomorrow in case you find yourself in need of a quilted bag or a new cardigan. According to WWD, the 2,500-square-foot store in a traditional gray-shingled style landmarked building designed in 1897 by Joseph Greenleaf Thorpe, the renowned architect of Grey Gardens, will remain open through Labor Day.

If you haven’t started watching The Summer I Turned Pretty on Amazon Prime Video, you are pretty much the only one. It’s the hot new family friendly something for everyone series of the summer. I joked it felt a little like a mix between a Hallmark movie and To All the Boys I Loved Before and then I found out that Jenny Han is the author of both books by the same name. There are three books in the Summer series so expect two more seasons down the road.

I forgot that Becoming Elizabeth was airing but luckily it’s available On Demand from Starz. The eight-part series follows Elizabeth Tudor, an orphaned teenager, who becomes embroiled in the political and sexual politics of the English court on her journey to secure the crown. It stars Alicia von Rittberg as Elizabeth and sexy Tom Cullen as Thomas Seymour. You might also recognize actress Romola Garai who plays Mary. I really loved the first two episodes and look forward to the third episode to air on Sunday night.

If you need to get out of the house, the highly anticipated Baz Luhrmann film Elvis will be released on Friday, June 24th. It stars Austin Butler who sang all the Elvis tunes himself and seems to channel the legendary singer in the previews I’ve seen so far.

Loot stars Maya Rudolph as billionaire Molly Novak who spirals into a tabloid-fueled self-destructive spiral after discovering her husband’s betrayal after 20 years of marriage. To her surprise, a charitable foundation offers to help Molly get back on track. The Apple TV series also debuts on Friday, June 24th and looks very funny and stylish which means I will definitely give Loot a chance.

I’ve posted about my Paris Guide that I’m selling on Instagram but I thought I would post it here too for those on you not on social media. At some point, I’ll turn the PDF guide into a book but in the meantime, it will definitely help you navigate your first trip to the City of Light since the pandemic started.

You might want to mark your calendar for June 30, 2022 because that’s when the Vincent Van Duysen collection for Zara Home will be released featuring furniture and home accessories in the distinctive sophisticated style of the Belgian architect. The first of a series of collaborative pieces (part of an ongoing collection scheduled to be updated with new designs twice a year) focus on the living room, with sofas, armchairs, tables, desks and consoles, as well as lighting, ceramics, and textiles.

I feel like you either love David Sedaris or hate him. I enjoy his humor so I picked up a copy of Happy-Go-Lucky while I was in the Hamptons. So far find it very amusing and can’t wait to get to his take on quarantine and the pandemic.

I almost bought this Souleiado Adriana Bag that Princess Diana carried last summer. I don’t know what stopped me but when I saw it offered on Gucci Vault, I decided to pull the trigger. It’s a great bag to add color to my white, blue, blue, and navy dresses when I don’t want to carry one of my Celine basket bags. It looks like it’s sold out in the size I bought from Gucci Vault but you can still buy it from Souleiado here.

I posted a photo of the bags I took to Sag Harbor in my Stories and people asked me about my printed fabric bag. Unfortunately, it was a Sézane bag that is no longer available but I just found these Overnighter Totes that are the exact same dimensions. They also have an outer zippered pocket and an interior pocket which mine doesn’t have. The two floral patterns are part of a collaboration with Brock Collection. The other prints are also available in cosmetic cases and other products in their Getaway Capsule Collection.

If you missed out on the last Birkenstock x Manolo Blahnik collaboration, a new one has just debuted today in White PVC and Black PVC. Get them before they are gone.

If you want to get a jump on Christmas, I highly recommend ordering these charming wooden ornaments from English artist Elizabeth Harbour now. Last year, they sold out in November so I went a little crazy picking out all my favorite motifs form historic houses to country animals. I can’t wait to hang them on my tree later this year but they also make a great gifts. You could also attached them to wrapped presents for an extra little present.

I wish this La Prairie Skin Caviar Skin Caviar Nighttime Oil wasn’t so expensive because it’s one of the absolute best products I’ve ever used on my skin. I usually hate retinol because of the skin irritation and flaking but this oil doesn’t create any skin issues. It’s supposed to “decrease the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, smooth, hydrate, and strengthen skin while sealing in moisture for a firm yet elastic texture”. I just read that you should use it after your serums and lotions but I use it after toner and follow it up with the Augustinus Bader Riche Cream. My skin has never looked better.

I tried to find some other reasonably priced similar options for you. The Sunday Riley LUNA Sleeping Night Oil is a close option in a retinol night oil. Dr. Sebagh Retinol Night Repair is a retinol night serum and the Drunk Elephant A-Gloei Retinol Oil says it can be used night or day but all retinols should only be used at night. You should avoid sun exposure and use sunscreen when you use retinols.

Bon Week-end!

XOXO,

HC
