It’s the Fourth of July holiday weekend but it doesn’t feel as celebratory this year especially since many people can’t travel or see their family. I’ve put together some things to get you through this weekend whether you will be spending it at home or the beach.

My first trip post quarantine was to Sag Harbor last week which is one of my favorite places out East. I always stay at Baron’s Cove and it was an especially good place to stay this time since each room opens to the outside. You don’t have to worry about walking around large indoor spaces or taking an elevator with other people. I booked a Garden Room so I could have a more private area outside my room where I could work and eat. Baron’s Cove was kind enough to offer HC readers “savings up to 50% with a reduced deposit of 25% for the remainder of the year with the code CHIC.” This offer is only good online and probably won’t give you the biggest discount on weekends during high season but you can always plan ahead for a fall trip when rates are cheaper.

One Kings Lane has just opened a smaller store at 5 Main Street in Southampton around the corner from their previous location if you need anything for your own summer house.

After months of not being able to go anywhere or do anything, it felt really good to shop in stores in Sag Harbor like the Goop MRKT store on Bay Street, above. My friend Monelle Totah just opened an outpost of here store Hudson Grace in Sag Harbor too.

While the Warm store in New York is closed, they have just decamped to Main Street in Amagansett for the summer. It’s the perfect place to pick up some boho dresses for warm weather.

I had tickets to see The Truth at the IFC Center in March which was cancelled so I’m very excited that I can now watch it online on Amazon Prime for a reasonable $5.99. It stars Catherine Deneuve as a famous French actress who is preparing for the publication of her memoir when her daughter, played by Juliette Binoche, arrives with her husband, played by Ethan Hawke, and their daughter. After arriving at her mother’s house, she finally reads the book and realizes that it’s far from the truth.

I’m embarrassed to admit that I never saw Hamilton on Broadway although it wasn’t for a lack of trying. Tickets were always sold out so I’m happy to know that I can now watch a movie of the performance on Disney+. I thought they might have a free trial offer but it looks like it’s $6.99 a month so I guess I’ll sign up and then cancel my subscription.

I loved Kevin Kwan’s new book Sex and Vanity so much that I just read it in two days. The Gossip Girl meets Crazy Rich Asians novel made me laugh out loud at times since I got all of the jokes about New York and the Hamptons. If you’ve read my blog for the last 13 years, you should get many of the references which include many famous interior designers and homes around the world. If you’re looking for a book to read over the long holiday weekend, you will not be disappointed with this one.

Whenever I’m out in Sag Harbor, I always buy a shirt at AYR which stands for All Year Round. I love their chic elevated basis and this year, I bought the blue and white striped Deep End shirt. I love the description they give online, “This shirt was a banker on Wall Street, until she cashed out and started a new career as a florist in Nantucket. Spends her days lounging on weather-worn furniture, drinking expensive wine and smelling like fresh hydrangea.” They didn’t have the blue oxford version in my size in store so I ordered it online after I got home.

I also bought a new bottle of Escentric Molecules Molecule 01 fragrance at Bloom in Sag Harbor. It’s such a unique scent “characterized by its velvety Cedardwood tones, it creates an entirely unique smell once applied to the body and responds to your natural scent.” It comes in a smaller travel size and I layer it with Le Labo Santal 33 too.

If you’re tall, you’ll love this Beach Floral Tie Back Maxi Dress. I need to drop it off to my tailor for a big hem but it will be worth it since they are predicting a hotter than usual July in the Northeast. Good times.

I know I’ve posted this Celine Medium Triomphe Basket Bag before but I was finally able to use it for the first time in the Hamptons I could not be more happy with my birthday present. It’s the perfect light and chic bag to carry in the city and at the beach this summer.

I miss my facialist Leah at Mario Badescu so much but I’ve been trying to figure out ways to give myself the salon facial feeling at home. Leah always adds on a gold mask to my facials so I decided to try the Peter Thomas Roth 24K Gold Mask Pure Luxury Lift & Firm Mask. I used it for the first time yesterday and it definitely made my skin feel incredibly soft and gave me a glow. I left it on for an hour since it doesn’t dry hard and my skin still feels great today so I plan to use it at least once a week.
