Father’s Day Gift Guide 2020

Since most of us don’t even know what day of the week it is anymore, you might have forgotten that Father’s Day is coming up on June 21st. I tried to put together a gift guide this year that takes into account our present circumstances of being at home and not traveling very far this summer. I was also very cognizant of the prices of the gifts I chose and many of them are on sale.

I also knew that I wanted to highlight a real father in my post and not use a stock photo. I immediately thought of my dear friend Andrea Stanford and her husband Steve. I’m sure my dad had his hands full with one daughter and Steve has a lot to manage in a household with three.

“It takes a special dad to parent all women, especially through their teenage years – but Steve does it with the perfect amounts of rigour, humor and endearment. He’s managed everything from bed times and healthcare to soccer and algebra. Since he spends a good amount of time devoted to taking care of all of his girls – we love any day we can spoil and celebrate him!”

– Andrea Stanford

If dad is tired of hearing the kids fight or just needs some peace and quiet, he deserves these Bose SoundLink Around-Ear Bluetooth Headphones. They are currently on sale for $159.00.

My father is always leaving his coffee around until it gets cold so I sent him this Coffee Mug Warmer & Mug Set. I saw a much more expensive version last year but this one is much more reasonably priced.

Since most people will be going on road trips this summer, this Cooler Bag would be a perfect gift for dad to keep everyone’s drinks cold. It comes in two sizes and colors.

I say this every year but if your husband or father is wearing Crocs, please replace them with these Waterproof Birkinstock Sandals. They are also available in white, orange, and black.

For the cool art loving dad, I suggest this set of three Jean-Michel Basquiat Printed Wooden Skateboards to hang on his wall. If this is too expensive, I also love this Jean-Michel Basquiat Book.

For the old school dad who still loves to play records, I suggest this Cruiser Deluxe Turntable. It’s also updated for the digital age with built-in Bluetooth compatibility but you’ll might have to help set it up.

Everyone is reading White Fragility: Why It’s So Hard for White People to Talk About Racism right now. If he’s hesitant, you can tell him that the CEO of Delta was seen reading it on a recent flight and it’s great way to start the conversation about racism in America right now.

You know dad gets stuck with all the sad leftover charging cords. Why not treat him to his own chic Cable Collection.

If the family is bored by all the current games at home, why not buy dad this 3-in-1 Billiards/Table Tennis Gaming Table with Table Top and make it a gift everyone can enjoy.

Any tennis loving father would appreciate this book, Crossing the Line: Arthur Ashe at the 1968 US Open. It includes over one hundred pictures by John G. Zimmerman, many never before seen, of tennis player Arthur Ashe, the first African American man to win a Grand Slam tournament.

I asked my friend Eleanor Banco Lasko who’s an avid tennis player for a few other tennis suggestions. She said she prefers these Wilson US Open Tennis Balls.

She also suggested the tennis brand Babolat. This Babolat 2019 Boost D Tennis Racquet Strung with Cover looks good but there are a lot of different racquet options as well as sneakers,

I don’t suggest giving dad just this Tennis Racquet Needlepoint Key Fob for Father’s Day unless it comes with a key to a new car attached but it would make a fun add on gift or something tied to the top of a gift with a ribbon.

If your dad has been wearing the same clothes for all of quarantine, this Half Zip Cotton & Cashmere Pullover looks great and it’s on sale for $29.75.

This Tech-Smart Regular Fit Piqué Polo is on sale for $24.90 and comes in seven colors if you want to buy dad a few new shirts.

These Waterproof Performance Shorts will keep dad cool when the heat rises and they look crisper than cargo shorts.

This 3-Pack of Classic Fit Boxers is on sale for $19.75 so you can stock up for him. They come in three different patterned sets and plain blue and white.

If your dad or hubby needs a sneaker upgrade, these Cole Haan GrandPro Tennis Sneakers are a chic and classic style that can be worn with pants or sneakers.

Even though we all use our phones to see the time, I still think it’s nice for a man to wear a watch like this T-Classic Gentleman Leather Strap Watch. It’s 25% off right now too.

I watched Against All Odds over quarantine and Jeff Bridges wears sunglasses as these Carrera Sunglasses. If you want to up your dad’s style, these will definitely do it.

We could all use a pick me up after three months in quarantine and Terre d’Hermès Cologne could be that for your father.

If your summer family trip to Italy has been cancelled, make it up to dad with The Italian Dream and a Negroni.

If you’re taking a road trip this summer, this Novel Duffle Bag is a great bag for dad to pack into the back of the car. It’s on sale for $54.00 too.

Dad’s rarely treat themselves to new dopp kits or new products so why not buy him both with this Aesop The Chronicler Skincare Kit.

If you’ve ever watched an Alain Delon film, he’s wearing chic espadrilles like these Linen Espadrilles. They also come in other colors and fabrics so you can find the best pair for your father.

I know a lot of dad’s were disappointed when The Masters was postponed. Buy him The Masters: A Hole-by-Hole History of America’s Golf Classic so it can keep him occupied until it’s rescheduled dates in November. Thrown in a Masters Hat if was really, really upset.

Another perfect gift for the golfer is this Personalized Golf Ball Gift Set.

Gift dad with a new Dri-FIT Golf Polo Shirt for his first day out on the links.

Add a pair of golf novelty socks to your gold gift or make them into a bow for the top of the box.

This The Smoke Shop’s Backyard BBQ: Eat, Drink, and Party Like a Pitmaster book that came out this year received rave reviews online. It also includes side dishes and desserts for a one stop shop cookbook for the summer season.

My dad always grilled with charcoal growing up but it always took forever until it was time to eat. I like how this Performance 3-Burner Liquid Propane Gas and Charcoal Grill gives you the option for gas or charcoal.

Throw dad’s old beat up tools away and replace them with this Williams Sonoma Black-Handled 4-Piece BBQ Tool Set with Storage Case.

Make sure dad doesn’t ruin his clothes with this BBQ Apron. Make sure everyone knows who’s in charge of the grill by personalizing it too.

Add in this Top-Rated BBQ Sauce Set and have a taste test on which is the best one.

Give dad a laugh and a new pair of these hotdogs and hamburgers socks.

The father who spends every weekend on the water will appreciate Sailing America that was just released last October.

Boating and booze don’t mix and it’s actually illegal but dad might appreciate some cold non-alcoholic drinks while he’s sailing the day away. Yeti products come in a wide range of sizes and colors to fit any activity.

Make sure anything your dad needs to stay dry with this Waterproof Beach Tote. It comes in five colors and can be monogramed.

Smathers and Branson make a wide array of needlepoint products with a motif to fit any father’s favorite sport, college team, or vacation local. The nautical flag belt is perfect for the sailor in your life.

Whether your dad is a novice or expert fly fisherman, he will enjoy History of Fly-Fishing in Fifty Flies.

I never met a pair of novelty socks I didn’t like and your fisherman dad will appreciate these too.

Happy shopping!

XOXO,
