New Year’s Eve in New York City is fraught with peril due to a lack of taxis and Uber surge pricing. Sometimes it’s just easier to stay in with a few friends than brave the crowds out on the town.  But then you don’t get to buy a fun party dress and fancy accessories.  Here are a few outfit ideas to get you ready for the big night that all start with pieces from Self Portrait, my new favorite fashion line.

I have a blue wool coat with black leather sleeves that would be the perfect complement to this black and blue pleated dress. It would also work well with a black evening tuxedo jacket instead of a coat in a warmer climate.
