Chic in NY: Skin Laundry

I don’t like to recommend any beauty products or procedures until I’ve tried them myself. Now that I’ve had three Skin Laundry laser and light treatments, I can say that it’s my new favorite skin treatment. And no, this is not a sponsored post. I honestly love the way my skin looks and wanted to share this with you.
I had heard about West Coast based Skin Laundry when they opened their first New York outpost in March but din’t try it until August when my regular facialist was on vacation. As much as I love regular facials, sometimes you don’t have an hour or more in your day for one. The Skin Laundry treatment is only 10-15 minutes which makes it perfect for a quick pick me up. This is also a unisex procedure perfect for men as well.
On your first visit, you’ll answer quite a few questions that they actually read and take seriously. When I mentioned I have a mild nut allergy, I was immediately informed that I could not use their face oil. You are handed a make-up remover wipe to pre-wash your face but you can leave your eye make-up on.
You are then led to a clean room where your hair is pulled back and your face is cleaned again. Your eyes are covered with protective goggles before a trained register nurse comes in to perform the procedure. The first part involves two passes of the Yag laser which feels like rubber band stings. I’ll be honest, it feels weird but any discomfort is worth it and doesn’t last. You may notice a burning smell which is the dirt in your pores being vaporized. Next, gel is applied to your face before the IPL laser is passed over your skin which kills bacteria and even out your skin tone.
I left with absolutely glowing skin and no need for make-up. After the first treatment, your skin may break out a little over the next few days. Mine did and I was told that was normal since the procedure cleans out your skin. It didn’t happen after the next two treatments and I’m definitely noticing a more even skin tone and smaller pores and less random break outs now. The treatment is $65 but there is also an introductory offer of 3 for $150 which is what I bought, and other packages. If you schedule an appointment between 1:00-4:00pm on a weekday, you also receive a free moisturizing sheet mask.
I really love Skin Laundry as a weekly deep clean for my skin in between my other procedures like a monthly regular facial at Mario Badescu and seasonal Clear and Brilliant Permea laser treatments with Dr. Wade. I think it’s also perfect for the day of a big event and for traveling. I definitely want to get one before every long plane trip now.
Again, this is not a sponsored post but an honest recommendation. If you decide to try Skin Laundry treatment, please let me know what you think.
