Before we came to Paris, Michelle and I each made a list of the places we definitely wanted to visit on this trip.  Since she is currently decorating her house, at the top of her list was the fabric showroom Tensira.  The founders of Tensira, Tuulia Makinen and Hamidou Diallo met in school in Finland, fell in love, got married, and moved to Paris.  They decided to create Tensira to bring the traditional African fabrics and indigo dying techniques of Hamidou’s native country of Guinea to the market with some modern interpretations.  Each season they introduce new colors and patterns while always offering a range of blue and white fabrics by the yard, pillows, cushions, napkins, table cloths, bags, and throws, and even furniture.

While they would love to open a retail shop, they are only open by appointment right now. You can special order from them and they ship Internationally but you can also find their wares in ABC Home in New York,  Garde in Los Angeles, and other retailers around the world.

Definitely check them out on your next trip to Paris.
