Trademark Grows Up

02 . 11 . 15It’s always fun to watch the development of a fashion brand and see them evolve and grow. I liked Trademark when they first debuted but the new Fall 2015 collection looks like everything has really come together. I especially love the coats and that red dress. While some of the shapes might be classic, the details make them modern and interesting. Of course I also love that the looks were photographed in a chic apartment. That kitchen makes me want to gut my own today. If you find yourself downtown, you should visit their store at 95 Grand Street for more design inspiration.
According to the notes, “the Fall 2015 Trademark collection is inspired by a nostalgic sense of sportswear, functionality and mix-and-match utility.”
“The collection references the canon of great Americana image makers in photography such as the photographer Garry Winogrand, who captured the hustle and bustle of American street life in the 60’s and 70’s, Lee Friedlander’s visceral street photography, and the documentary images of Tina Barney, the photographer who captured upper middle class American life from a cognitive distance.”
“Recurring scalloped details reference the fluidity of Jean Royère’s sculptural furniture and the detail appears on several pieces, including a wave-like motif found in dresses, jackets, skirts and tops. Statement corduroy, in a variety of wale widths, appears on shirts and pants in bright red and safari.”
Trademark was founded by Pookie and Louisa Burch, the daughters of Chris Burch and step-daughters of Tory Burch. Just because someone has the right connections, it doesn’t always mean they will be able to compete in the very competitive world of fashion but I think the Burch sisters are well on their way.
