Chic in Providence: The Dean Hotel
by habituallychic
04 . 15 . 14It’s funny how many times I have a post planned when someone else writes about the same subject. Normally, I scrap the post and start over which I debated doing today but decided to leave it as is since we probably don’t have all the same readers and it was the perfect follow up to my masculine post yesterday. Enjoy.
I don’t have any reason to visit Providence, Rhode Island but I am going to think of one just so I can stay at The Dean Hotel. I watched the development of this historic 1912 building into a 52-room hotel (@thedeanhotel) on the Instagram accounts of the developers and designers Ari Heckman (@ariheckman -private) and William Cooper (@wtcooper) of ASH NYC (@ash_newyork). Ari grew up in Providence and his mom, Linda Heckman, is not only an interior designer but one of my loyal blog readers. His father was in real estate and his grandfather was an architect, while William worked at the best training ground for creative people, Ralph Lauren.
It’s really no wonder then that The Dean Hotel has a great mix of vintage furniture and art that give the beautifully renovated building a little soul. The brass fixtures in the bathrooms make me want to go out right now and replace everything in my apartment with brass hardware. It’s so simply chic that if you have high school students applying to colleges, you might want to steer them to Brown University or Rhode Island School of Design so you can stay at The Dean Hotel when you visit them.

Lovely!
If you travel to Providence in the summer, you can enjoy Water Fire. Our family thoroughly enjoyed it a few summers ago after spending the day in Federal Hill.
So chic!
What a great mix of vintage charm and modernity. Love the gold/brass fixtures throughout the hotel.
