Chic in Antigua
by habituallychic
03 . 19 . 14We lost another wonderful woman this week. Rachel “Bunny” Lambert Mellon (August 9, 1910 – March 17, 2014) passed away at her farm in Virginia at the age of 103. The philanthropist and avid gardener lived a lovely long life. Although she was very private, we have had peeks at her gorgeous garden (you can see it in this post) and her New York townhouse (in this post) in the past. I also just came across photos of her property in Antigua that was put on the market two years ago. I love the simple furnishings and painted floors and of course the view. Since it’s still not warm in New York, I’m just going to gaze at these photos longingly for a while.

I can’t help buy wonder why she (or her guardian) decided to sell this magnificent property. Do you know if it is still for sale?
When I used to fly for Pan Am out of JFK, I had layovers on many Caribbean islands, and Antigua was my favorite. Thank you for posting photographs of this lovely estate. RIP, Mrs./Ms. Mellon. Leslie in Oregon
I just got back from Jumby Bay, Antigua. I believe the Mellon property is still for sale.
The water in that part of the world is stunning. Pale aqua.

These photos speak so well to her whole style. Understated and classy, clean and natural! Thanks for sharing.
