Chic Striped Studio

I’ve received so many lovely comments and emails about my upcoming move but one reader from Amsterdam took things a bit further.  She emailed me photos to prove that you can live chicly in a studio.  Marijke Beumer is an interior designer in The Netherlands and lives in a beautiful studio that she decorated herself. She has not only made me realize that I have a lot to live up to but has me absolutely desperate to paint stripes on my new walls.  Her website isn’t up yet but I expect good things to come from this talented designer.  I also want to know what came in all those Hermes boxes!  Chic indeed!

I have never met an hermes box i didn’t like. Is that the same bed dressed two ways or are there two beds in there? love the stripes – would love to do a room with dove gray stripes sometime in the near future. with maybe some red accents.

Bold and beautiful! I too live in a studio downsized from a huge house! I love it! It is all a matter of creating the unexpected! Looking forward to see your ideas.

Gorg! It’s like Quadrille blew up in there- have been trying to put that Melinda in black and white on a sofa forever. Great look!

This week has been my yellow week! So many fabulous yellow interior designs, but I think this is the most chic! Keep up the wonderful posts!

I believe she had a friend at Hermes.
This apartment is done so tastefully, Heather. I love it.
here are so many things, yet it doesn’t look messy! Her color choices are beautiful too.
Thank you for sharing. I think anyone could get ideas from this designer.

Always fascinated by how people decorate their studio space.

The placement and use of the Hermes boxes, especially as a side table is fabulous. THANK YOU!

That studio is enough to make me want to downsize! It’s been done with so much care, thought and personality.

Absolutely divine, love the patterns, the colours and how it all goes so well together. Yes i am curious to see more of her work. Brilliant room.

This is a very happy home. The Hermes combined with the yellow stripes and leopard makes it sing–even in those long cold Dutch winters it would be warm and sunny. Mary

So much to look at and take in! I always worry about clutter in my small apartment but somehow this doesn’t look cluttered at all. Beautiful. Love the stripes, too.

Think horizontal! Stripes running horizontal are so great. I once had a shop and painted the walls in sea green and blue horizontal stripes–great look.

Aren’t the Hermes boxes just a little too…too? Although I too have a table made of Asprey boxes.

Such a chic studio! I love all the layering of color and texture; when most people would assume it would make a small space seem smaller, in reality when done correctly, it really makes the space seem grander. Well done Marijke!

Crazy about all those Hermes boxes. I save mine as well and keep them stacked on a lingerie chest in my closet, but I’ve often tried to figure out a way to use them more prominently. And here it is! Sadly, I don’t have as many, but that just gives me something to aim for. I’ll add in my brown striped Bendels boxes…

  23. natcalgal June 30, 2011 | 3:58 pm

Chic indeed!! And I know your new apartment will be just, if not more so, as wonderful. I love the color splashes of the orange Hermes boxes and wonderful textures and lighting. It makes me want to move to a studio apartment! Good luck!

I live in a 440 sq ft apartment and I wish every night for the $$$ to make it chic! And it never happens!

I’m so glad stripes are back! Those Hermes boxes are heaven. I am having an old Hermes scarf framed for a client.

These Interiors look great! Style’s are varied which makes it interesting.

Good Idea mixing the vintage with modern to create inspiring rooms. Also like the way that the stripes dont overpower the rooms (which can happen sometimes) thanks for sharing!
