The Selby and The Spades

I kept hoping that someone else would photograph Kate and Andy Spade’s apartment and my wish was finally granted.  The Selby has finally come uptown and shot their fabulous home for his site.  I remember seeing an interview of the Spades touring this apartment when it was in its original untouched condition.  I’m happy to see they kept many of its charming details such as the old fashioned light switches.  I can’t wait to zoom in and see what’s on their bookshelves and study their art collection.  They also make me want to paint something red!  For even more photos and a funny little interview, check out The Selby!

    Great post, Heather.

Love this! Thanks for sharing, Heather. I think my favorite is that black and white checked kitchen floor…

I am really living the artwork over the fireplace mantle. It adds such a bold yet subtle statement to the room.

The art, the colors, the mix of period regency and 20th c.–this is my idea of perfection, Mary

Thanks for posting this, Heather. I love the Spades’ style. A perfect mix of classic traditionals spiced up with great art and the seredipitous style they are know for. Fresh – love it! Nice to see some different shots, too. Happy Thanksgiving! xx

Thank you so much for this post! I just love the Spades and their talent for design/decor is incredible. I love the layering of color and how they use different shades of the same color right next to each other and somehow make it work. It is interesting how some designers prefer all white/neutrals in their homes and some go with full-on color. I also was interested in what books they have and noticed that one – American Fashion Designers at Home – is one that you reviewed on your blog! Thanks again!

What a beautiful, cozy home! And not so over-decorated like some that is looks like you could never actually LIVE there.

I saw these photos this am on Selby. At first I was thinking that framed sheet/doodle on their bookcase was from their child. After reading the words…I think it’s is actually a piece of art from Jean Michel Basquiat?

I’m kinda freaking out over it.

    I {swoon} over Basquiat
