I was blown away by the Picasso exhibition at the Gagosian Gallery in Chelsea last summer and I’ve been hearing that the Claude Monet: Late Work exhibition is even more amazing. “The most significant gathering of Monet’s late paintings to take place in New York in more than thirty years, it will focus on the most important late subjects drawn from his gardens at Giverny—Nymphéas, Le pont japonais, and L’allée de rosiers—which are among the most treasured paintings of his long and prodigious career” I am looking forward to seeing it and if you are too, make sure you go soon. It closes June 26th!

these monet pieces are breathtaking and am thrilled that the exhibition is in nyc 🙂 i’ll be back in manhattan for work on sunday and will make the gallery my first stop!

From this novice’s perspective, Monet’s later works are his most appreciated, because they captured the summation of what he had learned from his years of painting: the essence of light, color, and focus. Thanks for alerting us to this showing.
I’ve loved Monet ever since I saw a documentary on him when I was 12! He is so under appreciated.
i saw this! well, at least a similar show called “late works of giverny”. it was in new orleans about 15 years ago. amazing. the canvases are huge!!
it was interesting to learn that as monet’s work evolved towards abstraction, his sight was seriously failing- perhaps there was a strong connection, or perhaps coincidence. anyway, the show was quite moving.
I can stare at his work for hours and hours… brilliant design and color!
These are so much more bold and modern than his earlier works. I love them and wish I could make it!
So delish…love it.
