Someone recently asked me why I don’t subscribe to magazines. My answer is that there is nothing worse than seeing a magazine on the newsstand before your subscription copy has arrived. That’s why I have two copies of every Domino ever published. And before anyone asks, no you can’t have any of them. The point of my story is that I was super excited to find the June 2010 issue of ELLE DECOR on the newsstand last night! My love of this magazine is not a secret but I have to say that this issue is really one of the best in a long time. It’s meatier and full of fun articles including the “Top 5 Designers to Watch” and I can’t give away the whole list but I can tell you that my dear friend Grant K. Gibson was among them! So exciting and well deserved!
The other fun feature is J. Crew creative director Jenna Lyons “12 Things she can’t live without.” I won’t give away all of her answers but like me, she hasn’t met a sequin or sparkle that she hasn’t liked and I’m beyond jealous that she also owns a 1969 Mercedes 280SE! Could she get any more perfect?! Love her and ELLE DECOR this month! Bon Weekend!

I was sooo going to ask if you wanted to sell your spare set of Domino mags 😉
P.S. Technically, the June issue of ELLE DECOR wasn’t supposed to hit stands until May 24th!! So in that case I think subscribers would get their copies first. It’s just that these technical on-sale dates are never the actual on-sale dates.
DYING! I can’t wait to read more about Jenna. My grandfather had a 1962 Mercedes Convertible. Almost a spitting image of this one, but a few years older and in shiny black. I loved that car…sigh.

OK, now i am totally jealous of Jenna Lyons – gorgeous home, fabulous style, incredbile career…..and she has my ALL time dream weekend car. i’ve wanted one of those babies for weekend driving for years! man!!!
i couldn’t agree more about the mag subscription..it would drive me insane if i was in the airport seeing a mag that i wouldn’t buy because i knew it was waiting for me at home!

my favorite Mercedes is the one with the fins… I think its a little earlier than Jenna’s, but I can’t fault the girl on taste!
I have the same problem – I can’t stand to see my mags on the news stand before they arrive in my mailbox. I’m not a big subscriber, either…Instead, I pay a small fortune for my fetish. Could be worse. Have a great weekend!
Your not the only one saying this months issue is better than usual!! I must go to the store and pick a copy up ASAP!!

I feel the exact same way re: not subscribing!!! Though I recently made an exception with Canadian House and Home since the newsstand price in the US is so expensive! I’m traveling now and would kill to find an Elle Decor is the airport for the flight home!!
I hate, Hate, HATE seeing a magazine I subscribe to on the newstand before I see it in my mailbox! On the other hand, I love getting 2-yr magazine subscriptions on Amazon for $10.
aaaahhhhgggg! Of course she owns the worlds chicest car! Unbelievable! Running to the news stands now, this issue looks like a keeper!

I too love Magazines and collect a great deal of them. I just finished an internship at The World Of Interiors Magazine and one of the perks of working at Conde’ Nast -Vogue House is that you get to have Free magazines every month from All the magazines they publish, oh then there’s the Basement Library where you’ll find boxes full of previous issues to grab for free! I have lost my mind a few times working there!
2 of each domino! This makes me jealous to no end, but I will refrain for asking for any of them.
And yes, I see your point. I have lots of subscriptions solely for the fact that otherwise I will spend a small fortune on magazines at the news stand and I just cannot afford to do that. I do get very upset though when I’m in line at the grocery store staring at an elle decor or traditional home that I cannot buy because I know it will be arriving in the mail.
