Pure Perfection

I was looking through old tear sheets again when I found the page below from the November 2008 issue of Vogue. It was shot at interior designer Veere Grenney‘s London home and it was the first place that I became acquainted with him and his work. It is also still one of my all time favorite homes. One that I could move into tomorrow and be blissfully happy forever! Except maybe for the bed. I grew up with a canopy bed and I have had an aversion to them ever since but if anyone could make me reconsider them, it would be Veere Grenney! I also thought it was perfect to post his beautiful home after Hamish Bowles Paris place since they are friends. I wrote about their summer excursion in a post last year. I find this apartment infinitely inspiring and I hope you do too! Enjoy!

Such a lovely apartment – I love all the neutrals and how “not-decorated” it looks. Each piece seems to have come from a different place in a different time.

    Thanks for sharing 🙂

Heather, do you know what the rugs are? MB

These are rooms that you could walk away and return in 30 years and they’d still look as fabulous as they do now. Perfection!

Perfection indeed! So soft yet strong, timeless yet au courant. I remember coming across the website of the fabric manufacturer used on the canopy bed but now I have forgotten it. Any chance you know who it is? I believe it is a british textile designer…

Silly me, it’s Veere Grenney himself!

Yep, totally agree–perfection. Love the placement of the Robsjohn-Gibbings chairs. Mary

I love how the sisal rugs really lift the room. Also, the contemporary pieces truly add an artful jolt to what is largely a traditional space. This is mixing periods at its best. For another post on mixing contemporary and traditional, check out my blog post on the gallery Iliad, by searching Iliad in the search box in the bottom middle column of my blog, Decor Arts Now. Those folks are great at it too. You can find me at http://www.decorartsnow.com

I love all this light! I think light might be the best ingredient to set off a beautiful home. The height of those windows! Lovely!

I could move right in – canopy bed and all! A canopy bed just seems so cozy!

    THANK YOU!

indecision solved. i bought a vintage buffet for my shop with incredible lines but a horrible paint finish, think 50’s blonde furniture. i will now replicate the console with a black top and cream body with aged golden accents….YES!
to die for apartment by the way

oh this home is just so gorgeous. it’s one of those that almost hurts to look at because it’s not mine! i love how there is a sense of symmetry but not matchy-matchyness. this is perfectly shown in the first picture where the two pictures are hung on either side of the large piece of artwork – they line up, but the frames and compositions are different enough to create interest.

    thanks for sharing!

GORGEOUS. The shot of the dining room with the massive mirrors and the chandelier and the braided jute rug…pure divinity. You have such impeccable taste. XX Kate
