The Lifeguard: Part Deux
by habituallychic
05 . 08 . 09Photographer Matt Albiani and fashion designer Michael Bastian are friends who just happened to both have lifeguards on their mind recently. (And thanks to Matt’s photos in my last post, I think we all do now!) Michael’s spring 2009 menswear line was inspired by the 1975 move The Lifeguard which I had never even heard of but I hope Netflix has because I think it’s going to be very popular very soon! More importantly, he was inspired by the ease and sexiness of the lifeguard lifestyle. Aren’t we all!
I checked out the collection at the Bergdorf’s men’s store recently and wished I had a boyfriend to shop for because the clothes are preppy but slim fitting and sexy. A perfect combination! Matt and Michael were also a perfect combination. Michael hosted Matt’s book party for Lifeguard on Duty at Bergdorf’s and you can ogle the photos on display in Michael’s section until the book comes out in June. Too bad it’s not summer now! Bon Weekend!

Oh the Bergdorf Men’s section.
Do you remember when we got in trouble for taking photos- and the sales people were so bored that they were reading magazines!
true confession, I was a life guard and loved that movie! Now I love those clothes and my son is taking the life guard course! Ha! History repeats itself!
I remember that movie The Lifeguard. I’m from the 70s, haha. Sam Elliot was hot. I don’t remember much in the way of fashion, just a lot of bathing suits. 🙂 It was sort of depressing, though.
Just found your blog and love it!
Many thanks
These are great looks. Never heard of the movie, though.
Honestly, I think those shorts are too short. My husband would never agree to wear them.
Oh my gosh, I have a couple of guy friends who would simply die for this stuff – and they are twins too! They’d be so handsome. One works as a chef at Blue Hill though, so I doubt he dons anything other than chef’s whites these days, but I’m definitely passing this onto the other twin – love it. Also, saw your fb status about your very blonde hair and it cracked me up! Hope you’re well 🙂
As a former lifegaurd myself, I must admit that the tux is a bit over the top for the beach. Gorgeous otherwise. Yummy post though!
….dressy lifeguards….
These are divine! I wonder how much convincing I need to do to get The Boyfriend into these . . .
Can I just say I love Matt Albiani?
I really liked your blog post on Thomas O’Brain. I am so glad I have blue all over my home too! He’s very talented. thanks!
