I spent part of this New Year’s Day surfing the internet in search of interesting interiors and I’m so glad I did because I it led me to Fabrice Diomard. Most of the information about Fabrice is in French and has caused me to add “take a refresher French class” to my New Year’s resolutions since I can only make out bits and pieces of the story. What I did manage to figure out is that Fabrice Diomard is an interior designer of Italian and Nordic descent and influence and owns a shop in Paris called L’Autre Maison. He works with the George V hotel and other clients and I think also designs furniture. I know his boutique is going to be my premier stop on my next trip to Paris.His apartment featured here displays that wonderful European flair for mixing antiques and in this case ancient statues with modern furniture including plexiglass pieces. There is a wonderful video tour of the home on Interieurs and although it is in French, it is worth checking out. I also found a few other articles and a floor plan which might looks a little off but will still give you a sense of the space. Even though the color palette is mostly black and white, it’s never dull due to the varying shades of color and patina.
I especially love how the apartment glows with warm candle light in the Interieurs video. The small dark and cozy bedroom would be good inspiration for many tiny New York City bedrooms. Oh, and if you didn’t notice already, Fabrice is a bit of a hottie. Just another reason to check out his designs and shop!

I am grateful that you shared this with us – I lived in Paris for years and love seeing others’ apartments – but I absolutely hate what he’s done with the place. So stark and uninviting to my eyes…

I actually love it, these rooms feel very calming. My favorite is the all-white room.
While it has on the surface a minimal feel, the appearance of too many objects clutter the mental space and restrict the imagination by forcing it into too many directions.

S – to each his own but I didn’t find it stark at all. I loved the mix of the modern and antiques. Oh well.
Architect Design/Stefan – I think it’s because they aren’t wearing oversized sweatshirts and baseball hats 😉
Rhonda – I think the shades and textures is what makes it work for me.
MA – it is calming and although there is a lot of stuff, it doesn’t look cluttered.
Anonymous – I don’t find that it looks cluttered at all but everyone has a different opinion about how much is too much I guess.

JDDS223 – he has serious objects but it looks like he doesn’t take it all too seriously which is key.
This reminds me of a glitzier version of Kelly Hoppen… or maybe I should just say a French version! I love the dining room with the gilt mirror & gorgeous herrinbone floors and then the contrast of all the black furntiure. Its amazing how pulled together different styles of furntiure can look when they have the same color scheme. Thank you so much for sharing, his shop is noted down on my Paris list!

I just returned from Paris yesterday, and I’m thrilled to see your post! I know exactly where this apartment is located by the photo of the amazing church outside the window! Also, I have visited his shop in the village Suisse and it is STUNNING. There are some great antique dealers over there, and it’s not well known…a great resource. Thanks for sharing!

***note to architect design (and chic)- you can have the french men- i mean they are ok and all, but it is the spaniards that are the most handsome and chic on the planet. i believe prince felipe proves my case… 😉

Probably not- but,it would be wonderful to hire him, as he would, ofcourse, have to spend an enormous amount of time in the apartment with the client.
Its worth a trip to Paris,too bad the concorde doesn’t fly anymore……
