What’s your sign?

09 . 25 . 08I couldn’t post anything last night because my computer was being a bit temperamental which actually wasn’t surprising since it was the first day of the current Mercury retrograde cycle. I think a lot of people now know that when Mercury is retrograde, it not only affects communications but computer and technical equipment. So I thought this might be good time to discuss astrology and the stars. I recently had the pleasure of having my personalized charts read my astrologist Aurora Tower.
When I mentioned that I was meeting with an astrologer, reaction was mixed. Some people confessed that they too see someone, like the person who has their chart done every year on their birthday by the same astrologer that Donna Karan sees and others looked at me like I had said I was consulting Dionne Warwick and Psychic Friends Network! On friend announced that only single people read their horoscopes but there is a huge difference between reading your horoscope in the newspaper and having your personalized chart read and there was no better person to consult than Aurora who is young and passionate about astrology. “My goal is really to get more people interested in and educated and excited about it, that it is something that should be fun and people should be less “mystified” by it” she said. She also grew up in Manhattan and now lives part of the year on St. John where she is creating an eco-luxury home that will hopefully be for rent soon! She also has a great blog!
It seems like a lot of creative people are more open to astrology as are people in the East. We had an interesting talk about how the Olympics opening ceremony were planned for an auspicious date and time and that many companies use astrology to conduct business dealings on the best possible days. All in all I loved the charts that Aurora prepared and explained to me. I always wondered why I didn’t always feel like an Aries and now I know why! While she didn’t give me the exact date I am going to meet my soul mate, she did give me good news about work and traveling and that’s good enough for me! By the way, Aurora can be reached at brightstarlights@gmail.com.

As an Aries, I love the artwork. Is it a textile?
hey- when does mercury go out of retrograde? my computer starting wigging out last night too! i was resigned to going to the mac store soon ’cause i probably need a new one (mine’s old), but maybe i’ll wait for the retrograde thingy to pass…
Ms. Wis – I took from Aurora’s website. I’ll have to figure out where she got it and get back to you.
Maison21- It ends on October 15th but doesn’t really straighten out until the end of the month. You’re definitely not supposed to buy a computer so you might want to wait unless you want to take your chances. Good luck!
dashing to the files to find my chart done many moons ago, many have said that I am “clairvoyant”
so I really need to tap into this.
pisces here, born on st.paddy’s day -mar.17
how fun! I love that stuff and am married with a kid and still check my horoscope every day..and many times it is eerily right. how do you go about having your chart done? I went to her blog but didn’t see any info.
I am totally open to it. Her blog is really interesting.
PVE – Seems all I meet are Pisces men lately! I’m going to have to figure out what that means! Definitely dust off that chart! I thought mine was so interesting and she told me why I was so creative and was obsessed with two of everything in my designs! I lvoed it!
Brilliant Asylum – It’s soooo interesting! It’s amazing how astrology can explain so many things!
Meg, I updated the post to include her email but it’s brightstarlights@gmail.com! Good luck!
I’ve never had a chart done and used to read my horoscopes. I think it’s interesting. I prefer Chinese astrology – I am a (metal) Rat. It tends to be right on. I’m also a Gemini, so’s my husband. But he’s a Monkey and we’re highly compatible (in some ways; in others we are polar opposites).
I love all that stuff — I will check out the link!!
Happy Friday!!
People may be skeptical of astrology but it’s true that the majority of people I know strongly resemble their sign…. I am a pisces with rising gemini, which basically is my entire personality in a nutshell.
At my firm our principal designer has all of this scheduled out on her computer and will not make any major decisions or sign anything until these periods are over – somewhat frustrating for the rest of the office – but she must be doing something right as she is extremely successful. A few days ago after a hair pulling day at the office (find out a huge order slipped through the purcasher’s fingers and we install in 2 weeks!), a hour and a half long commute after seeing 3 accidents, meet my husband and daughter for her ballet and on the way home a bus literally catches on fire right in front of us! Not to mention a promenient client calling and telling us that they will not be able to finish the construction of their home because of the stock market crash. And I jokingly thought to myself it must be Mercury retrograde thinking of the principal…then open this post the next morning letting me know that I was indeed correct! I am a believer now! Ok – sorry for the crazy long post!
I regularly consult with my “guidance” guru. I think it is great to get a broader picture and handle on certain things. I look at it as another tool in my tool box. I will have to look at Aurora’s site.
Note: retrogrades can actually be good for some folks
This is a very thoughtful and insightful post on Astrology. Relevant as mercury is going retrograde Sept. 7 (2009!) again soon. Probably why I found your post from the past!
