The Hermès Shop Windows
by habituallychic
07 . 26 . 08Is everything from Hermès ridiculously expensive? I’m going to have to say yes and I’ll tell you why in a second. I was reading the New York Times online and found a story about Kelly Wearsler shopping for hard to find design books which included “The Hermès Shop Windows” by Leila Menchari, who has been the sole creator of window displays at the Hermès store in Paris since 1977. Later that same day, I happened to pop into William Wayne and what did I find but “The Hermès Shop Windows.” If you are interested, it can be yours for $1,000. Or you could save that and put it toward a Birkin. Your call.

Hilarious. I received a copy of that book for free! Yay me.
dear habitually chic, you can still get a copy of it in france for 75 euro in the original french under the title “Les vitrines Hermes” with a little easy hunting (say, http://www.fnac.com and voila). save the 850 dollars you would have spent at William Wayne and go treat yourself to something else, like a meal. (not saving for a Birkin, though)
should you see Kelly Wearsler, do tell her that book was not so “hard to find”. haha.
Redic!
You inspired me to do a bit of research on my own. Hermès is one of those brands I consider to be out of my league, even though I’m paying through the nose of other luxury brands without too much thought.
But a Birkin? A Kelly? And apparently a BOOK are all well above what I’d like to pay just to be one of the “haves” in this case.
I love that Sebastien tells us how we can obtain it for so much less. See… the girl who really wants it can always find what she wants…it may just ake a bit of digging!
Leïla Menchari’s house in Tunisia was featured in Elle Decor some years ago.
