Dining by Design

I am always inspired by non-professional interior designer David Jimenez so it was funny for him to tell me he was inspired by a photo that he saw on my blog. A photo of Tinsley Mortimer no less! David loved the photo and decided to use orange, turquoise and chocolate brown as the colors for his Dining by Design table for the fundraiser for DIFFA Kansas City.
Here is Tinsley in all her glory in her new Upper East Side New York home.
David’s table was really a room with “richly colored walls, eclectic artwork and lush flowers that gave the space a luxe yet bohemian vibe that made it a magical evening.” Makes me wish I lives in Kansas City!
The whole table looked like it glowed!
What I didn’t know is that Dining by Design was founded in Kansas City over fifteen years ago and has become the signature event for DIFFA chapters nationwide. I guess New York isn’t the center of the universe after all!
My favorite part of the room is all the amazing art! I might have to see if any of it is for sale somewhere!
Orange, brown and blue are some of my favorite colors and they couldn’t look more perfect than they do here!
David (second from the left) and all his chic friends at the Dining by Design event last weekend. Could they be any more good looking? (Note to self: get teeth whitened before visiting Kansas City next month!) David has such a great eye and fabulous design sense that I’m blown away by all that he does! And he’s a sweetheart to boot! Kansas City sure is one lucky town!
Fabulous setting. I love the inspiration and the execution–especially the robins egg blue Chivari chairs. The roses are magnificent reflected in the mirrored table top. Great work! I am suddenly craving a glass of Cliquot and bar of dark chocolate.
The orange roses are beautiful! What wonderful inspiration you provided for the designer!
Wow, great post!! I think everything David touches turns to perfection! He should do design full-time, I guarantee he would give several designers a run for their money.
I wonder if he purchased those kelly wearstler pillows at ZGallerie or had them made…
Gorgeous and I agree, the orange, turquoise and chocolate brown colors look amazing together.
Wonderful, as usual. I recognized a couple lamps and chairs from David’s gorgeous home feature in House Beautiful.
I feel so naive asking this but are those Hermés plates? I have never seen them before and I am in love! Once again his use of the mirrored table adds such romance! Outrageously lovely.
I am just blown away by David Jimenez. I totally want to go shopping with him.
Oh who am I kidding? I’d go shopping with *anyone!*
This makes me even more sad that I missed it! David’s a doll and the space is amazing. You will have a blast when you are here. Thanks for showing off KC.
I’m lucky to be friends with David as well, but even with that said the space is just terrific. Tinsley’s pad was great to catch on your blog and I am glad it caught David too. What a color combo!
This room is absolute perfection.
Wow! The color scheme looks terrific! I love it!
What is a “nonprofessional” interior designer?
Love that colour combination!
You’re right – they couldn’t be any more good looking. I think the whole thing was staged! And I wonder who the red head is…..I always wanted red hair like that. I’m sure she grew up hating it. Love the color combo – his rooms are pretty incredible!
I’m so glad everyone loved David’s table as much as me. It makes me want to throw a dinner party every night!
Also, David isn’t a professional interior designer. He has a day job elsewhere. That’s what I meant by “non-professional.”
fabulous table ! I love the colors combination
wow, just discovered his genius. he has such a beautiful website too.
