J. Crew at Kaufmann House

I’ve been wanting to visit Palm Springs for a while and now I’m even more inspired after seeing the photos of Kaufmann House, the backdrop to J. Crew’s spring collection.

Kaufmann House was commissioned by Edgar J. Kaufmann Sr., the same man who commissioned Frank Lloyd Wright to build Fallingwater. It was designed by Richard Neutra in 1946 and was recently restored to it’s former glory. In a weird twist of fate, the couple behind the restoration, Brent Harris, an investment manager, and Beth Edwards Harris, an architectural historian, are finalizing their divorce, and plan to auction the Kaufmann House at Christie’s in New York on May 13. The building, with a presale estimate of $15 million to $25 million, will be part of Christie’s high-profile evening sale of postwar and contemporary art.

I’ll post more photos later but until then, I’m off to shop. First stop, J. Crew of course!

A girl after my own heart! Let’s just say that I’m seeking treatment for my unhealthy obsession with J. Crew. The expanding jewelry line isn’t helping, either.

I think any clothes would look fabulous in that house.

All I have to say is that J.Crew’s creative dept. is the best! They make you look forward to seeing their next shoot, because of the way they so ably set the stage and showcase the eye candy. They turn it into a story, like each season is the “sequel”to the last – like a design and style soap opera. Love everything about their clothes!Terrific post!

    J. Crew just keeps getting better and better while the Gap and Banana shake their death rattle. I’m wearing a green J. Crew cardi and yellow ballet flats as I type.

Oh this is so sleek and glamorous. Straight out of a Hitchcock movie. Well done, J Crew. Makes me want to get down to my nearest shop immediately! If only the stores were themed along these lines.

Hollister, What the heck is going on over at Banana??? Whoever is in charge of design over there should be fired!

P.S. I’m wearing a J. Crew sweater and jeans today too but with Loeffler Randall flats. So happy for warmer weather!!!

Alice, glad you like! Maybe J.Crew should rethink their store designs. Might be fun to shake it up a little.
