My Date with Domino

I couldn’t ask for a better Valentine’s Day date than the March 2008 issue of Domino. It actually arrived earlier than expected which is more than I can say about my last date. Anyway, I digress. This issue, as usual, is chock full of inspiring ideas and beautiful interiors. One of my favorite features is the style evolution of the former homes of legendary magazine editor Mary Jane Poole some of which is seen here. Mary seems kind of spunky for a woman of a certain age and I love her use of color and pattern. Check out that leopard carpet in the bedroom! I think I also have a soft spot for her since she happens to live a block away from me in New York. Just as wonderful is the Brooklyn loft of stylist Lili Diallo that is filled with fabulous art and pops of pattern. Check it out for yourself and you’ll want to date Domino too!

Thanks for the preview. It feels like AGES since the last Domino. Can they start publishing twice a month?

Suzy, they are more amusing than bad. But at least I have the new Domino to help get me through!

Be the Change, I bought it on the newsstand. Who knows when the subscription copies will arrive. You can check out the website for a sneak peak.

BA, It’s funny how H&G had to close but we are begging for more Domino. Too bad it can’t come out weekly like US!

I love the complexity and warmth of these rooms. Everywhere you look there’s something interesting – whether object, pattern, color, or texture.

I think we’re all going to have to speak to domino about getting our issues earlier and more often! I know I’m not dating nearly enough!

My issue came in last night – MUCH earlier than usual! After my hubby went to bed I snuck in the other room to read, he thinks I’m having an affair with the magazine!

I loved the article though and was surprised by some of her styles, I can’t believe how much pattern she used, but somehow it all worked together.

I haven’t received mine either. Looks like a good one. Let’s start a weekly design magazine! I’ll be the, um, supervisor as I have no design experience. 🙂

These images make you want to sign the lease, grab the front door key and move right in.
I used to be addicted to interior design magazines, it was a hard process weaning myself off them, and I think you may have pushed me back towards decor-photo-reliance 😉

My luck with domino may be changing. My free tote arrived last week – could my home-delivered issue be far behind? We’ll see. Thanks for the sneak peek.

Topsy Turvey, It’s funny how so many people are afraid of mixing patterns, myself included at times, but it looks so great here.

I’d like to date domino more too. I was just thinking that they should come up with a television program. They already have behind the scenes videos on their website so they’re halfway there!

Design 59, It makes me wish that I had taken more photos of all the apartments I’ve lived in so I’d have record like hers!

SGM, I can only imagine how much fun we’d all have if we got together to produce a magazine. Makes me wish we all lived in the same city!

Amy, I love that design magazines open us up to interiors that we would otherwise never have access too.

Joanna, I love orange so the top room was my favorite. Looks like a nice little spot to sit and read.

Mrs. Blandings, you just made me remember that I was supposed to receive a free subscription to Domino when I went to the Domino Bazaar event. I have yet to get an issue and that was months ago. I may have to talk to someone about this!
