Eyeing, Buying, and Trying: March 2023

I’ve been trying not too buy too much for spring or because I really don’t need many pieces. But I am headed to Palm Beach soon and picked up a few things that work for both so I thought I would share them.

In case you haven’t taken a look lately, Banana Republic is looking the best it’s looked in years. I bought the navy double faced wool coat (on the left) that looks much more expensive in person than the price. Then I saw the navy wool gabardine trench coat (on the right) and decided to try it too. It also looks much more expensive than the price in person. I like to have coat options because coats are to New Yorkers what cars are to people in Los Angeles.

I liked the blue and white striped voluminous blouse so much that I decided to order it in white too. It’s the perfect top to throw on with white and blue jeans for transitional weather.

Because I never met a blue shirt I didn’t like, I ordered this blue and white striped popover top. It’s perfect for when you want to be comfortable but also pulled together. It comes in three other prints too.

I couldn’t resist this blue and white linen shirt dress that will also double as a beach cover up.

You can go wrong with anything from Mille for a warm weather trip so I ordered this Esther Dress in Green Bouquet (on the left). The pattern is perfect for Palm Beach. I’ll either pair it with yellow Hermes Oran sandals or a pair of old blue suede Gabriella Hearst tie up sandals for a contrast.

I had seen the hibiscus print bib front dress (on the right) before but didn’t really need it. Then I realized it would be perfect for Palm Beach and luckily, it’s on sale now.

I’ve been debating if I should take my medium brown leather Celine basket bag or my blue teen Celine basket bag to Palm Beach. I feel like it’s the kind of place where women probably stroll around with candy colored Kelly bags. I just happened to see this new Celine basket bag in pale blue and I’m in love. It’s going to be the first thing I look for in Paris since I think the blue is the same color as my wallet and crossbody bag. It would look great with all the dresses in this post too.

I wish I had seen this Marigold Stripe Maryse Caftan and Seaport Blue Chintz Amanda Dress when there was time to have them shipped before my trip. They would both have been perfect for Palm Beach.

I love navy and white with a pop of rosy pink like this Organic Cotton Crew Sweater. It reminds me of the faded Nantucket Red color.

Some of my grey lounge pants had to be retired after wearing them so much during the pandemic. When I googled charcoal grey lounge pants these came up. They are super inexpensive and worked perfectly. They even have pockets. They are also available in black.

I don’t love velvet hangers so when Erin Foster posted these Neat Method Hangers, I decided to give them a try. The work perfectly for clothing and heavy coats unlike velvet hangers that often break. I’m glad I made the switch.

I saw this KeySmartUV Home Products Cleanlight Air XL Air Purifier on morning tv and decided to give it a try since the air in New York can be so dirty. I like that it’s small unlike most air purifiers and it even comes in a size smaller than this one.

Legendary music producer Rick Rubin posts the best inspiring quotes on Instagram so as I soon as I saw he had a new book out, I immediately picked up a copy. After years, if not decades, of helping people connect with the wellsprings of their creativity, he offers that same deep wisdom to all of us in The Creative Act: A Way of Being

I switched to Caddis Miklos Glasses last year and I have to say the quality is far superior to Warby Parker and they are only $99 which is amazing. They offer many different frame styles and colors and prescriptions options with blue light blocking technology. They also offer sunglasses with prescription too because there is nothing more annoying than not being able to read your book outside.

I bought the navy version of this Rue de Verneuil Beige Traversee Linen Tote but then I saw this neutral color which would work perfectly with my Hartmann Tweed Carryon Suitcase. If I don’t decide to keep the navy version, I’ll donate it to Housing Works where I donate all my lightly worn clothing and accessories.

Lauren Santo Domingo mentioned this Westman Atelier Beauty Butter Powder Bronzer on the Lipstick on the Rim podcast so I decided to give it a try. I’m glad I placed an order quickly because the lighter coup de soliel shade is sold out everywhere now. Luckily, Moda Operandi is now carrying beauty products and you can preorder it for when it’s back in stock.

Happy March!

XOXO,

HC
