Something I’ve learned from photographing holiday decorations for years is that there are two different camps. Those who own faux decorations they display each year so they are charmingly consistent. There is nothing wrong with faux either since it saves money and prevents allergies when used indoors. The second group are those who only work with real pine garland and trees and tweak their decorations from year to year. Brian Branton who lives in a historic house in Alexandria, Virginia rests squarely in the latter. It’s fun each year to watch him decorate the exterior and each room including the bedroom via his Instagram photo seen here. I especially love that he follows the Southern tradition of decorating with citrus fruits and pomanders. If you want to see more, you can find his 2018 Christmas decorations here and he will be hosting a live tour of his house on Instagram tonight, December 14th, at 8:00pm EST. If you miss the live viewing, I would check for a saved tour. Happy Holidays!
