Southern Retreat

I have been following Marina Rust on Instagram for a while and was wondering what she was doing in Virginia. My question was answered in the August 2017 issue of Vogue. She and her family had bought a red brick Georgian farm house on a rolling hill where they spend as many weekends and holidays as possible. A total departure from their life in New York  Marina scoured auction houses and consignment shops and took her time decorating until her husband Ian ‘s sister, Catherine Monteiro de Barros, stepped in to help. The house is the epitome of Southern traditional style, especially the custom dining room wallpaper. It looks like a dreamy place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and I wouldn’t be surprised if more New Yorkers joined them in Virginia.

It’s a gorgeous estate, the only thing that feels a bit over the top for me are the top birds by the entry table.
