workout-new-years-resolution-2016-habituallychic-001 The number one New Year’s resolution is to lose weight. Research says that it takes three weeks to form a new habit so keep that in mind as you begin a new workout plan. Even the smallest step in the right direction helps. Experts agree that even just five minutes a day to start is better than no minutes. You also need to figure out what works for you.

I already work out but my goal is to be much more consistent. I don’t particularly love the treadmill so I’m going to mix it up with the elliptical trainer and bike this year so I don’t get bored. I’ve already Pilates group Reformer classes to my workouts to change up my usual yoga routine.

One thing I do that really helps is to add my workout classes to my calendar. I know exactly when my favorite yoga and Pilates instructors teach so I have no excuse to miss their classes. Equinox also allows me to add my workouts to their app which will send me reminders a few hours ahead.

It also helps to buy workout clothes you actually like so you always feel good at the gym. I recommend buying each color or multiples of your favorite pieces. I bought seven pairs of my favorite workout pants so I have no excuse for not working out each day of the week.

I love shopping at Bandier for my workout clothes. They carry all the great brands in one place and makes things very easy. When you sign up for their emails, you can save 15% off your first order too. If losing weight or working out more is on your New Year’s resolution list, here are some great workout clothes and sneakers to get you started.
workout-new-years-resolution-2016-habituallychic-002I really need to find a puffer coat to walk to the gym in the winter and might have to buy this Adidas by Stella McCartney Jacket.
The Alo brand was created by yoga enthusiasts but I love their Sunshade Tanks for the treadmill as well as the yoga studio.
Bandier has so many sports bras that they definitely have something for everyone. They’re sold out of some of my favorites but I want to try this Falke Control Top Bra next.
My absolute favorite workout pant is the Spanx Active Compression Very Black Pant. They are tight without being constricting and always keep their shape. I’ve had a few pairs for years and they still look great. They are too long for me so I have my tailor shorten them for me because I’m obsessive about how all my clothes fit. I also just saw the new Spanx Every·Wear Tech Tape Very Black Leggings on the Today Show yesterday and they looked great and have front sipper pockets to store your key and money. Both leggings come in dark blue as well.

I switched to APL sneakers last year and just bought a new replacement pair. APL stands for Advanced Propulsion Labs. The company first developed basketball shoes to help athletes jump higher and then branched out into running shoes for men and women. I prefer the plain black APL Techloom Pro Sneaker but they also come in 13 other colors.
But if you are on the coach, try doing tricep dips or squats while you watch or during commercial breaks. Anna Victoria has a popular at home workout plan to do at home too.
workout-new-years-resolution-2016-habituallychic-008I wear a long sleeve tee shirt to do Pilates in the winter because the room is chilly and you don’t sweat that much. But I like the idea of wearing this Ultracor Jacket that can be easily unzipped if you do get warm while working out.
workout-new-years-resolution-2016-habituallychic-009If you are smaller busted, Varley is a great brand as is this Laain Seamless Racerback Bra.
workout-new-years-resolution-2016-habituallychic-010I usually wear a separate sportsbra and tank but I love how this LNDR Duo Tank combines both.
Koral is another great brand for those who are already in great shape. Their Lustrous Leggings come in navy, black and gunmetal and look as great on the street as they do in the gym.

I don’t workout outside in the winter but if you do, you might want to try these Nike Air Pegasus 89 Tech Sneakers. They come in black, maroon, and cool grey were designed to be warm and waterproof for winter workouts.

One of my friends said this to me one day and it makes me laugh every time I sweat at the gym. But sweating through exercise and in a sauna is very beneficial to your heath. Sweating helps expel toxins from the body, improves blood circulation, cleans out your pores, and helps relieve stress and promote relaxation.
This is another great parka from Addidas by Stella McCartney for those who don’t like black.
Splits59 is another great brand and I definitely want their Ace Crewneck Pullover for after yoga.
As I mentioned above, Varley has great sports bras for the smaller busted. I wish they would make more options for those of us who aren’t because they have the best prints of any workout brand.
workout-new-years-resolution-2016-habituallychic-017If you want a warmer pant for walking to and from the gym in winter, I likes these new Everlane Street Fleece Pants. They come in four different colors and have pockets, ankle sippers and cuffs. They are a little long for me so I’m having my tailor take off the zipper and cuff and hem them to a little longer than ankle length. I think they might a good alternative to leggings for long flights too.
As you know, I love anything grey so I bought myself these Nike Air Max 1 Premium Jacquard Sneakers for Christmas. While they are meant for running, I plan to wear them to and from yoga. I also think they would look great with a long wide leg grey pant for walking around New York and Paris when you want to be comfortable but chic.
