While the White House private quarters by Michael Smith in the December 2016 issue of Architectural Digest is getting all the press, it was the very chic Greenwich Village apartment of artist Jack Pierson that struck my fancy.

In the article, Pierson said, “I decided that I wanted it to look like an apartment that a rich aunt—one I didn’t know I had—had left to me, and that I had taken over in my gay bachelor way,” he says. “But, just to be clear, I don’t have a rich aunt.”

When questions asked by architect Elias Moser became overwhelming, he reached out to his friend Fernando Santangelo to help with the design. The Benjamin Moore Whale Grey (looks more pale grey in real life than the blue seen here) living room is perfect space to escape the hustle and bustle of New York City, especially on a crazy Marathon Sunday.
