The Met Gala is billed as the Superbowl of fashion and the red carpet definitely didn’t disappoint this year. In case you don’t know, the event is the fundraiser for the Costume Institute of The Metropolitan Museum of Art and is held the first Monday of May. Fashion houses buy tables and invite models and celebrities who wear their designs. The Costume Institute exhibition this year is Manus x Machina: Fashion in the Age of Technology. Chairwoman Anna Wintour of Vogue suggested that attendees wear silver. Some guests stuck to the theme and some did not. These are a few of my favorites.
Rosie Huntington Whiteley and I share the same birthday and that’s where the similarities end. She looked amazing in her white Ralph Lauren gown. Hunky actor Jason Statham on her arm doesn’t hurt either.
The back of Uma’s dress was a bit low but I thought she looked gorgeous until I saw the front hem. I wish it went to the floor like Rosie’s dress but that Cartier brooch makes up for it.
Karlie Kloss in Brandon Maxwell leaving the Mark Hotel in what I thought was her very conservative gown.
Turns out it was a coat and Karlie’s dress was pretty sexy.
Margot Robbie in Calvin Klein
Kate Hudson in Versace killed it. I guess all that yoga is paying off. The dress was fashion forward and on theme but didn’t look like a costume like some gowns.
Karolina Kurkova in Marchesa chronicled her dress design for days on Instagram. Apparently the dress lights up with a battery pack. At least it’s pretty wearable tech.
The back of her dress.
Allison Williams in Peter Pilato. That’s co-star Jemima Kirk in Chanel behind her.
I still have no idea who Rita Ora is or what she does but she did look drop dead gorgeous in her Vera Wang feathered gown.
Love her or hate her, Kim Kardashian did look beautiful in Balmain. No comment about Kanye.
Cindy Crawford also in Balmain was photographed next to Kendall Jenner and put her to shame. She’s still got it.
I don’t know Mackenzie Davis either but thought she glowed in Altruzarra.
Anna Ewers channeled Hollywood glamour in Hugo Boss by Jason Wu. Love her hair!
Lauren Santo Domingo looked like a chic silver statue in Giambattista Valli Couture.
I enjoy following Naomi Watts stylist Jeanann Williams on Instagram to see sneak peeks. I assume Naomi must have a contract with Burberry since she’s been wearing them a lot but if it ain’t broke…
Poppy Delevigne in Marchesa looked like a goth flapper but I still liked it.
Brie Larson in Proenza Schouler.
Ashley and Mary Kate Olsen in vintage Fortuny and The Row.
Sienna Miller in Gucci looking gorgeous as always.
Model Lily Aldridge in Michael Kors. Looks like the guy behind her is checking out her bum and who can blame him.
Glowing mom-to-be Emily Blunt also in Michael Kors was perfection.
Amber Valletta in H&M.
Jenna Lyons, Jenny Konner, and Lena Dunham. Not sure what’s going on here but I want a pair of those glasses.
Jack Huston in Alexander McQueen is how a man should dress for a gala.
